Do you play anything besides blackjack?

Just curious...

For me, it's only blackjack. Once in a while, I'll throw a few bucks in one of the slots, but that's it.

I play blackjack and poker. The two games that are beatable.

But sometimes after I've won a lot and need a break from counting or reading players I play a few carnival games. Particularly Carribean Stud and Roulette.

I refuse to play Let It Ride.

I pretty much just play BJ and Spanish21.

I like Sp21 - lower HA than BJ, usually seats available and no one knows BS. Most people only care about their Match bet anyway and play their cards like regular BJ. The Match bet can be fun - seen many win a bunch on it. Kind a like a good slot machine with cards lol.

I'm not trying to beat the house on the 2-3 times a year I may get there. Just having fun hoping to drink enough to overcome the house edge. I'm pretty sure I usually succeed

3 card poker is ok - especially if u avoid the Pair Plus bet but the players will hate u for it.

Let It Ride does suck. Although I did see a guy win $6000 there with the minimum $10 bet. That was cool. They counted the cards and put them in a bag, put a glass lid over his chips and took him away.

If I could find a full pay Pick-em Poker game I'd play it but I never can find one.

I play enough slots to get them to cover my rooms and board.Played at the right time and place, slots can be a positive expectation game. But its quite a bit of work.

I play BJ, and almost all of the blackjack derivatives. Video poker too, for comps and cover.

And I can play 3-card, 4-card poker under the right conditions, pretty much any carnival game if I can get an edge. Sometimes I will buy in at craps and play a couple of hands to confound the BJ pit's accounting.

Other than BJ

Before learning to count I was an avid craps player-strictly front/ back line with odds. Over the years I've done pretty well, but still probably about even +comps. Looking back now I realize that I'm over expected outcome for that game. I still play it to "gamble" though, since 6-8 hrs/ day counting becomes taxing, besides I still get the comps, get to drink and let loose while confusing the "man" up there.
Pai Gaw is also relaxing with little variance.

I have been playing a little holdem on sit and go tables when I'm in between Blackjack sessions. Got to give the mind a break once in a while.

What's the lowest house advantage slot game you can possibly find? Or can you even determine the exact EV on all machines? It seems hard with progressives and such.

Even if you could find a break-even slot, I imagine the variance has to be pretty wicked.

If I can help it, no.

Just this weekend, I had a big blackjack win at a tiny joint, and felt an obligation to sit in front of a screen for a little while. Played some 10 cent VP. I don't really know how to play it, and I didn't really like it, and I still won $5.

Craps California style (card, no dice) is retarded. And real dice-shooting confuses and scares me.

In online casinos, I'll play whatever game I have to to clear a bonus. A while back, I found myself with a bunch of non-cashable money I needed to burn through, so I played a bunch of random games (let it ride, red dog, war).

I'd only learn Pai Gow to hit on cute asian girls. But the demographic for that game skews old.

I might want to play a little baccarat for the sheer retardation of it. Maybe I can start referring to it as "multi-card War" just to piss people off.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a break-even machine. Its only when you factor in cashback, room, food and show comps that the games become fairly neutral. If you cycle $10,000 thru a machine that has a 4% edge on a consistant basis, you will end up with around $9600 each time.It can easily be that you lost your entire BR one trip, lost $700 next one,and won $3,000 another time. Yet if its done on a triple cashback day,you might get around $300 back.Factor in a free room for a day or two and a few meals and you may have a slight advantage.
But only if you only play when its a bonus situation. Either multiple cashback or multiple reward points. On a rare occasion you might hit a day that offers both.Today was such a day and I didn't bang it out as I should have.
Yes,Variance sux on a slot machine, which is why I choose to pocket my winnings today instead of trying to rack up some serious future comps. It will very likely cost me in the long run but cash in the pocket is always nice

I play craps quite a bit, especially when I meet up with friends that don't play much BJ. Grew up shooting dice, so having a "legal" forum to do it in a very social setting is a good time. Definitely a negative-expectation game, but full of excitement.

good luck

I mostly stick to BJ, but I'll play anything that has a +EV. I've played roulette, craps and slots a few times but only because there was a special promotion or coupon for them.

To be honest, I don't really enjoy gambling. I just like earning money. If I want to take a break and have some fun I'll go somewhere else (a good restaurant, strip club, etc). The casino is where I work. Sometimes work is fun, sometimes it is a bitch. Either way I want to get the heck out of there once I’ve put in my hours.

i only just play blackjack. can't find an edge in the other games.
spent 90% of my life being a non-gambler. played some slots while on a cruise ship and have been hooked on gambling ever since. but the evolution of my interest in gambling has led me to only gamble if i can find a way to at least even the playing field. as i see it every thing in life is a gamble.... just some of the games you have a better chance of comming out winner. those are the games i want to play.
the thing that fascinates me about casino's is all the money that is flowing around. talk about sacred flow....

other games

I play video poker for a break or when waiting for tables to open. Jacks or better 9/6 pay tables are the best. Anytime I play other games I'm aware of the edge on the games the house has. I do like three card poler but only play for eight hands, if I don't hit I quit. blackchipjim

I'm reading Snyder's Poker Tournament Formula right now. I plan to play a couple tournaments a week once I get the info down. I played hold'em before I learned to count, poker is fun but can get boring folding all the time. I miss the days of online poker. Anyone else read this book? I'll also play pai gow when they are changing decks.

o, that must suck for you. i love everything about gambling. but i'm highly allergic to placing -EV bets. i never want to leave a casino, i want to camp out there all day and night playing blackjack. lol.

but yeh, other than BJ, i play poker as well. although i know Basic strategy or the best bets to make for three card poker, red dog, roulette, craps, war, baccarat, and JoB video poker, i've never played any of them in a live casino.

Poker

Been a very serious poker player for 20+ years. Play blackjack and poker off the same B/R for about the same stakes -- around 750 hours per year between the two.

Pretty dismayed over the rabid No Limit Texas Hold'em rage. Poker rooms now spread very little else. Way too much variance, and not all that interesting. Limit Hold'em was okay when it was just one of many poker variants. But a steady diet of Limit Hold'em becomes very dry -- a little like a table full of basic strategy blackjack players all playing against each other -- and paying the rake.

Poker was much more interesting a few years back when Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Stud-8-or-better and 7 Stud Hi were in the mix. A lot more to think about with many more opportunities to make a mistake.

Hold'em has only 169 different starting hands. And since everybody shares the same cards from that point on, the ensuing variables are cut way down. By contrast, 7 Stud has 1500 different starting hands and everybody can be drawing to something completely different. Omaha Hi/Lo has over 5000 different starting hands and myriad draws on the flop are typical. Hold'em is as close as you can come to a game with a "canned" strategy. Not very enthusing when that's all there is.

Cards

Blackjack and poker have always been my game yet being around many casino environments, I sometimes enjoy the slots away from all the people when i fancy playing alone
