I have two quick questions before I head to Vegas on Sunday:

Normally I spread from $10 to two hands of $100 in a shoe game (I assume this is considered a 1:20 spread) but I think that is too much for a double deck game. Is a 1-6 or 1-8 spread the usual for a double decker?

In general do people feel safe walking along the strip late at night/really early in the morning? I'm staying at the south end of the strip and was planning on walking most of the time even if I was coming from the north end of the strip. If unsafe I'd probably take a cab instead.

I think what you were referring to is a 1-10 spread. And I also think that for a 2-deck game you should be spreading 1-4. Anything more than that will catch some heat, I would assume.

We calculate spread from the top down - if your topBet is 2x100 (or 1x130) your min looks like this:

6D: 5-10
2D: 15-25
1D: 30-50

I show a range of minBets because different games, different rules, 1hand v. 2hand topBets, etc. require different spread tactics.

In 2D games I typically spread 1-10+ zg

ETG.....Depends on how far north you'll be coming from. If from the Sahara, I'd think twice. But about any place south of say, Treasure Island, you should be safe. The sidewalks are not deserted. But to walk to Mandalay Bay from Treasure Island is quite a walk! I would have suggested catching the Monorail but the walk to the gates for the Monorail is sometimes quite long in itself. Still, you might consider it. I doubt that a cab from the north end to the south end would cost much more than $12 with tip early in the morning.

You should consider Downtown. Downtown is in another dimension. Distances aren't as great. People are not the same. Games are not the same. You might even see Rod Sterling dressed in a showgirl outfit in front of Mermaids handing out beaded necklaces!

Now, if you DO decide to go Downtown, I would suggest heiring Guido and some of his friends to escort you should you decide to make the short walk from the Fremont Canopy to El Cortez at night. The people you'll meet on the way are usually very friendly. They'll come up to you and strike up conversation and maybe hit you up for a smoke or lose change. But I wouldn't want to tempt them too much late at night when they are beginning to feel like life has passed them by!

Other than El Cortez though, You would be safe any time day or night as long as you stayed on Fremont under the canopy.

I don't think you need to walk. They have those new buses called the Duece or something like that. From what I heard they go up and down the strip and all the way to downtown. That's what I heard anyways.

It's about 7 miles from the MGM to Fremont Street. You wouldn't want to walk. The strip should keep you busy enough since they have plenty of playable games.

As far as your spread goes, you should have no problems with a 1-6 spread and could probably get away with a 1-8 spread in most DD places if you are careful.

Its 1-20. The beauty of two hands is that such a 1-20 2hand spread has no greater risk than a 1hand 1-13 spread. Hence the formula: If your topBet 1handed is 100, your topBet 2handed is 2x75 (add 50% more action). zg
