about 20 years ago i took a black jack course from a guy by the of Doug Grant, his concept was different from anything else i've ever seen. Anyone else familiar with him?

Oh boy, I haven't heard that name in a long time. Way back in the early days of the Internet, he was the scourge of the blackjack discussion groups on Usenet, posting hundreds of messages a day, flaming anyone who claimed that card counting was a winning idea.
I understand that he was a counter, and taught counting to many students. If I recall correctly, he was involved in some unsuccessful lawsuits against casinos, and I don't know what happened after that.

Doug grant definitely taught counting and more. Some of his basic ideas were to play 2 hands, spread wagers from 1 to 16 units, divide the shoe into 3 zones(true counts) but he differed from anyone else in that your big bets were based on the way the dealer busted on the previous hand, he called them a type A or B bust. Anyway the reason why I asked is that i've tried to find his literature and he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. If anyone has his worksheets a response would be appreciated.

Well put. Douggy (Douglas Grant von Reiman) having failed as a counter decided to make money by suing people. By people I mean everyone on every side. His lawyer was Howard Altschuler (201-768-6218.) He sued casinos and threatened to sue many authors including me repeatedly. (An equal opportunity pursuer.) I posted my name, real address, phone number and challenged him to sue me after he posted over 50 claims I was a fraud and I was both Stanford Wong and Arnold Snyder.zengrifter said:

If you are good you should be open and have argumentation along with it. Some body telling me that cardcounting does not work is not even worth the attention.
I have followed his discussion 20 years ago, I am fulltime and he is broke full of Aces full of Bull....

Quite right. Funny thing - shortly after this thread started I received a letter from Doug threatening yet again to sue me if I didn't bust every post I ever made that mentioned him. (As if it were possible to bust USENET posts.) I responded to his new lawyer that I would file criminal charges against Doug if he ever contacted me again.Automatic Monkey said:
