I have gotten so put off by the useless noise in casinos - not only the slots, but drunk people hollering at the craps table, or the 75 db yell from the inebriated woman who just won a $15 double down like she just hit the lottery!

Sunday I wore earplugs for the first time - what a joy! - flesh colored ones from Wal-mart - so nice to quiet the din, and helped me focus more - the dealer yelling out the hand totals was also muted!

I'd be wary. Harder to hear the floorman whispering about you. Besides, any view to be seen as "tuning out" distractions wouldn't seem to be the look you're shooting for. Hence no ipod at the table.

Although I've been next to some incredibly noisy slot machines (especially the "take out your ticket" BEEP BEEP BEEP") where it would have been awfully convenient.

Good point Bob, I think it was Siena where I could actually hear the surveillance cameras being steered to follow me around to different tables.

May be required for one's health at Thunder Valley. More appropriately called Thundering Herd of Buffalo Valley. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, now featuring DJ dance nights Thursday through Saturday, right in the center of the casino so the din will carry everywhere. I can't imagine having to work full time in that place. No wonder the pit critters are so grouchy.
