It says in the ko book for ko full 1D to double 8 vs 5 on +5 or above. However, doubling the 8 vs. 5 is basic strategy on the wizardofodds blackjack calculator for the same rules as the ko book gives (noDAS, H17). How does this make sense?
That still doesn't make sense because normally, at any penetration for single deck, the count should be anywhere from 0 to 4 on average. I assume that basic strategy accounts for the "on average" so if you should double 8 vs. 5 at +5 or +8, then this tells me most of the time basic strategy for this play is wrong.
No, the KO book is not RA. Yes, Modern Blackjack is RA. But, that's not the difference. BS takes into account the cards in your hand and the dealer card. So, basic strategy is not the same as counting strategies.
