Foxwoods strategy

Do you guys think it is a good idea to employ the following strategy at FW?

For every 3 shoes where you incorporate a wong out strategy, wong into at least 1 shoe. Note: The wong out point would be TC = -1 for the reverse wonging strategy.

For those of you that backcount 8 deck shoes, can you tell us a little about the experience? Must be lots of standing on your feet for long durations. Wouldn't the wonger stick out like a sore thumb? Especially if he likes to play during a weekday. This is why I think it might be a good idea to have a ratio of 3:1 for shoes reverse wonged to wonged into. This way you are at least mixing it up somewhat and keeping them guessing...

Thanks for any ideas.

Great strategy!

I think it's a good strategy. Of course the Foxwoods weinie reading this post of yours will ALSO think it's a nifty strategy and be watching for you now....

I think this strategy is going to have zero effect on your chances of being backed off (which are negligible to start with).

I agree with the above. FW is big enough where you can wong in and out for hours without being noticed.

FYP

Seriously, between both halves of the rainmaker, the cedar, pequot, and mgm, you could wong in 12 hrs a day for a long weekend and never encounter the same floorperson twice.

But what if you plan on playing there once a week? Wouldn't they catch on sooner or later, even if you rotated amongst the various locations?

Which of the above locations offers the best conditions? Will I be able to find a $15 table minimum during the weekday?

You should be able to find $10 minimums during the week. Cedar seems to be less crowded since they only recently added table games back to that casino. A lot of table-only players don't even realize they're there. Pequot and rainmaker seem to be the most crowded, but both have lots of $25 games with open seats. MGM is typically not too crowded.

FW backoffs are primarily going to come from one of two things. Play in the HL rooms, or cumulative lifetime win.

I play at FW regularly, and that is actually pretty close to the strategy I use. Several years ago, I started out with a backcount-heavy strategy due to bankroll considerations, which as you mention involved a lot of standing around. I only received any noticeable heat for doing so once: a pit boss yelled out to me something like, "Are you actually going to sit down and play for once? You're making me dizzy with all that pacing around." That said, I received 'player heat' much more often than casino heat, as ploppies tend to be easily annoyed by anyone "disrupting the flow."

Despite my relative success with wonging, I was relieved when my bankroll grew large enough to comfortably sit through the start of a shoe, as much for my legs as anything else. My player relations also improved considerably, and I finally started earning comp points, which has made a huge difference to my bottom line due to the larger weight of room and food expenses for a small stakes player.

Since my bankroll is still on the small side for ten dollar minimum tables, I am unable to incorporate the full 1-16 or even 1-20 spread that would be ideal for a play-all 8 deck game. I compensate by doing just what you said - I always wong into the first shoe of a session; I will almost always stay for another shoe if the last one ended significantly to the good; I usually play for an average of 2-3 consecutive shoes at the same table. Since I am not wonging often, when I do I usually wait for a fairly high plus count (+2 or even +3) to sit down, and I prefer for that count to be achieved towards the beginning or middle of a shoe so I can still enjoy fairly decent penetration (and not look like an @ss sitting down for the last two hands).

Excellent advice. It's real easy to avoid the high limit rooms, no advantage at all to even go in there. The lifetime win problem can be avoided, by the services of that rat that often accompanies us to the table. Ratholing is easy and effective.

Wait- there is one benefit to the high limit rooms: they will serve you top shelf liquor. But recently I've discovered the Showboat in AC is willing to feed me single malt scotch. :toast: So I just go down there, have 8 or 9 of those then drive off to a casino with better games. :joker:

When your wongin, you get backed off when you hang around the same pit too long. So limiting the number of shoes in some manor is a good idea.

To reduce "standing out" stop standing!. just pop a squat right at the table, buy in chips, and wait, if they insist you play, make up some superstiotious bs, like ill wait till you stop pulling 21.... or ill wait till your due for a bust.

Often, even if the pit person observes your game and sees your empty betting circle, they may assume your not in the hand because you were just dealt a bj, and your cards were already collected.

its all about how you convey why you arnt playing, the dumber you act, the easier it is to get away with.

Thats all i know, foxwoods is awesome though, i wish i lived closer.

Just curious, how many hours in one day would you guys play at Foxwoods?

I'm low stakes ($15 unit) and plan on doing 4 hours per day so far.

Being it appears you're travelling a bit to get there, I'd plan on playing as long as you can without fatiguing too much. Heat isn't much of an issue at your stakes.

I'm coming from NY; takes about 2.5 hrs to get there. In the near future I plan on going there habitually like 2 - 4 times monthly for either day or weekend trips. My other option is AC but their crappy games can kiss my tucus!

I've been getting different answers from people about how long to play. Majority say ~4 hours is fine and that ~8 hours is too long. I THINK I can really get away with 6 though.

It all depends on your max bet. If you are Wonging around as you should be and keeping it under $200 or so, you're going to be able to play for a very long time without getting douched. It is, in this order: 1) Visiting the high limit room 2) Purple action, and 3) camping out at a table that gets you in trouble in CT.

What about visiting the high limit room to make some bets that don't correlate to the the count? That is, betting high when the count is slightly positive, and low when the count is high? This would establish a certain playing style that would then be in contrast to one's playing style on the main floor.

Not that I would do this, of course. ;)

Why even bother doing that at a $50 min bet? You might as well play some baccarat or Crazy Four, or craps, to give you a history of playing a lot of different games, if you want to play some -EV for cover.
