Reading this book just as an interesting read "Cheating at Blackjack" and came across this quote:

"To deceive your enemy you must first study him,
understand him and discover his vulnerabilities."

Couldn't be more true in blackjack as well as other things.

This is so true. Once you understand what will be a red flag to a casino it is much easier to avoid it. Also, once you understand the inherent racism of most pit bosses it is much easier to take their money while putting them at ease.

Sounds a lot like Sun Tzu from 4,000 years ago:

"All warfare is based on deception."
"Invincibility depends on one's self; the enemies vulnerability on him."

Or another translation:

"Of old the expert in battle would first make himself invincible and then wait for his enemy to expose his vulnerability. Invincibility depends on oneself; vulnerability lies with the enemy."

How would you use racism of pit personnel to your advantage? It's true that if you are not Caucasian you can use stereotypes about you to your advantage. But the pit workers I see are of all different races themselves and I wouldn't try to guess at what stereotypes they believe in.

If Pit Critter A runs up to Pit Boss B and says, "A player in my pit is up $50,000!" Pit Boss B walks over and sees

1. A 25 year old Caucasian male with glasses held together with a band aid.

2. A 60 year old Chinese woman

I guarantee you Pit Boss B is not going to have the same reaction to those 2 players. I will leave it to you to figure out how to take advantage of this.

How do you tell if a woman is Chinese? Sometimes I can hardly tell if someone is a man or woman.

I've got it! Next time out I will dress up as a Chinese woman.

Seriously, I would not suspect the first player of being an AP. An experienced AP is careful about his glasses and anything that will affect his vision when playing.

Deeper into the stereotype

P.D.

If the 25 year old Chinese male appears to be a tourist from China, the pit will consider him just another losing gambler.

If the 25 year old Chinese male appears to be a Chinese American, the pit will consider him a member of the MIT team.

So, if you are a 25 year old Asian AP, born or raised in the U.S., I suggest you work on a strong accent or pretend not to understand or speak much English while on the table. You will have an act that works.

One of the best AP's I every teamed with was a 50ish, African American woman and she punished casinos nicely for having stereotypes concerning both women and African Americans.

Stereotypes don't come out of nowhere, and it doesn't take a racist to observe that there are a lot of Chinese with gambling issues.

But the percentage of people in every demographic who are a threat to the casino is so low, if you are going to stereotype, you might as well not do a skills check on anyone.

That geeky kid with the glasses and baseball cap, there's a >99% chance he's just a gambler, but he might be a member of a college team.

That middle-aged "William Robert" with his beard and his whiskey, >99% chance he's just a gambler, but he might also be an AP with a ton of experience and bankroll.

That Chinese lady, black guy, Latin guy, probably all just gamblers, but maybe...

I once happened on a older Vietnamese lady AP... She had a great act.. little english, trips to the head to pour out her drink, constantant references in broken english about how much she lost last night.. betting heavy black action. If she had not been ramping at the same time I was, I probably wouldn't have suspected her. I followed here to the head during a negative deck.. yeah she was wonging a DD game ... in with a full drink, out with 3/4 gone.. I smiled at her and asked her if she needed me to leave the table.. She laughed and said in perfect english "No, you are a very good BJ player!".

Good question. Most AP countermeasures are a marginal use of time anyway. I'd be debating whether it would be more profitable to use a man to run a skills check or to use him to deal a game on another table and get some more action in.

Whatever I did, it sure wouldn't be based on an ethnic demographic. Once people figure out you're doing that you are too vulnerable.

Another good quote

From our very own Pro21:

"If you want to travel the world looking for a gold mine, sometimes you have to get the shaft."

Unfortunately my gold:shaft ratio isn't quite where I want it to be yet.

This photo needs to be in Voodoo, where it can be voodoo-analyzed by aficionados. But just off the top of my head, some things ring immediate BAD FENG SHUI bells:

1 Shaft out the front.
2 899 street # on shaft, reinforces bad Feng. Everyone in China never go in joint with THAT number.

3 Neon sign has ERN HOT unlit. This is a cheap mind control trick that you obviously fell for, duping you into thinking you can earn money in there because you are a hot hotshot.

4 Sign needs cleaning.

5 This joint has its priorities confused. Is it a hotel or a casino OR the big go is Daily cafe special $5.99. (Not exactly a sign that inspires you to risk salmonella by eating in there is it...)

6 This looks like the seedy end of town. What AP worth his salt would be hanging out down there?

These things considered, I reckon you're pulling a leg. But you're no leg-puller, are you... :)

PS My advice: Stop playing bingo at the Western.

Anyone can win or lose, but those whose play is efficacious,
Merit credit for good news, and find the adverse less vexatious.

camoflage blown

Camoflage is one of the most important tools that an ap can use in thier arsenal against the casinos. This subject cannot not be discussed enough as far as I'm concerned. I do have a question for automonk. How do you kill the smell of banannas when you are dressed as an asian woman? blackchipjim

Good point! Nowadays especially. Anyone know of a nudist casino? Playing thusly would eliminate most gender doubt.............imp
