Have you ever emptied (or filled up) the dealer's chip rack?

One time I was having good variance and I emptied all the red and green chips. Granted, there weren't that many reds and greens at the beginning, but I had won about $1500 and all that was left were blacks, purples, and oranges.

And another time I brought red and green chips from another table and lost it all, and the dealer had no room to put the chips.

this is pretty common. most dealers arent timmid though if low and u bet $20 then split and win on a down, they will scoop 2 of your bets and toss you a black chip

I've actually never done it. Had a ton of sessions where I won a few purple, but never enough to kill a whole rack.

I did basically take all the money in a poker game about 3 times. I've taken over $600 off a 3-6 limit game on multiple occasions. It looks totally ridiculous, too. Other players will have like $60 in front of them, and I have 6 full racks of white.

I've been close to emptying it many times, but unfortunately the casinos I've played at won't give me that pleasure and order a chip refill and snarkly remark, there's plenty more of where that came from. To which I say, "Good, I've always wanted my own personal atm."

The first time I ever took a whole rack, they actually did a fill of black chips, and then we took the rest of the tray. So we basically took the whole rack twice in about 40 minutes. The first fill of blacks got there in time though so we didn't have to take the greens and reds too :laugh:. This was at a $100 max table though so the total $$ amount wasn't extremely high, a good score though nonetheless.
The next time I helped kill the rack was at the same place, but a higher limit table. The relief dealer got to wait there for the fill to pay us at least

Unfortunately, I have also filled up a cash box or two. These stories are less entertaining though (no one likes bad beat stories!)

One of the best things I have ever experienced though was when I helped to not only empty the rack....but the vault itself. We were told by casino management that they could no longer pay off the win in 100 or 50 dollar bills because they ran out, and they had to cut us a cheque which we could take to the nearby bank. :grin:

Long, long ago there was a 2:1 promotion at a small, remote casino in Nevada. Table limit was $1k, but black was the largest denomination chip in the rack. I lost count of how many times the tray was emptied and filled beyond capacity.

At the end of the promotion the cage did not have enough currency to redeem everyone's chips. Some folks had to wait a day until an armored truck arrived with more cash.

I've come within a few purples of emptying a rack on a couple occasions. Never quite made it though, luckily. It will certainly get you noticed, by both the pit and potentially much more dangerous observers.

I saw a ploppy do it one time, in style. I looked over a this guy who bought in for maybe $100. He's betting reds. Hour later it's greens. Half hour later it's purples. Half hour later I see them filling the purples.

Yes, I have emptied the tray more than once, and also burdened the cage when cashing out at an Indian store in California.

It's good, but it's not fun- those are the kinds of wins that will make a small store or an Indian store consider taking a shot at not paying you or at retaliating against you in some way.

They said they probably could have covered it, but with 20 dollar bills. At the location of this place, a cheque sounded like a better option than walking out with bricks of money too large to fit in my pockets.

Thinking back on it now, there was also a couple other big winners also who needed to cash chips but took cheques. I would be shocked if the could have covered it all in cash.

Even if the casino is subject to a law like that it wouldn't necessarily keep them from breaking it.

My partner and I once played a good $200 max promotion. The casinos largest chips were black. After we took all 50K of their blacks they started paying us in green and also let us cover all 7 spots on the lone promo table. Prior to that they were only letting us play 3 hands each. At the end of the night they only had about 15K in the cage and paid us the remainder with two checks. One of the checks bounced. After going to gaming and lawyering up we finally got paid. I'm pretty sure their reasoning behind letting us play 7 spots was hoping we would get unlucky and lose quicker.


To answer the OP's second question I've over filled many a rack with chips too.

I once played a home poker game in a college town where the players are just really bad. It's 1-2 NL and the players rarely fold preflop, even with a big raise. It was a loose, aggressive "wild" game with lots of raising. No one must have noticed that I was the only player folding most hands. I remember taking most of the chips from the other players. You know the other player's a fish if I make a pot sized bet and they call even though they said to me that they know they're beat. I wish I lived in that area so I could play with those same players regularly. The house was taking an illegal 10% rake that was uncapped and I still managed to win big that night.
