Having fun with the drunk and obnoxious palyer

I was just at a casino in Northern Michigan.* I sat down to buy in, received my chips and the guy at 3rd base playing 2 hands(with 3 drinks in front of him) asked if I wouldn't mind waiting until the shoe was done.......despite others at the table telling me to play.....I said OK figuring I would watch Mr. "the cards are in a certain order" lose a bunch.* However, to my chagrin he did well.* The young woman next to me (one of the reasons I sat down:)) got up to leave.* He then said to me that I should get back in.* I replied that I agreed to wait out the shoe and I would honor that.* He then lost 3 big hands to my pleasure and the amusement of the others at the table. The shuffle came and he walked over to another table to play a few quick hands.* He returned just as we were playing the first hand of the new shoe and asked 2 new players to please move down so he could play 2 hands.* I looked over at him and as serious as a judge said " could you please wait until this shoe is done?"* You would have thought someone shot him.* I counted 1....2...3...4....5...seconds before smiling and saying :"just kidding."* The table loved it.* My cards sucked and I couldn't do a thing but at least I had some fun for my money.

Hey, I remember most of the characters (usually drinking too much) that I've met at the tables. They make for a good time and they never get to me. I really don't think they impact my winnings for better or worse. I actually prefer them to many of the dead serious people who play as if they are at a funeral. These are the same people who think someone else's choices will ruin the game. At the end of the night, even if I do not win, it's the company of the folks at the table that makes for a great night. If I do win, all the better!

I agree totally. I like a table where the people chat it up and the dealer has a personality. I still remember the couple from Toronto sitting next to me 3 years ago at the same casino. The guy was hilarious.......and most of us were winning.

Back to my guy from lasr night......he appeared to know BS pretty well....even played A7 correctly which is one of the most frequently misplayed hands.........but then he would do something dumb.....like playing 2 hands with $50 bets and having two 16s vs. dealer 10.........and STANDING on both.

If surrender wasn't available, I would do the same thing! :p

Drunks can be fun, although playing online means I never have to smell the breath of a drunk next to me ever again unless I choose to. Bliss.

Drunks aren't always obnoxious either. I sat next to a somewhat drunk guy from Boston and his mother-in-law. Laughed out butts off especially when he said he was from MIT ... I asked what the count was and he said "16". Dealer/Pit either didn't believe him or didn't care. He played OK, but not a counter,
