Heat?

I have been playing at a casino for about 3 months now 20+ hours a week. Today I went and was winning. The pit boss came to my table and started watching me. There was one other player at the table. I use a 4-1 spread. For 2 rounds I flat bet the minimum because the count was bad. On the third round, I raised my bet. He picked up the sheet that had our ratings on it and wrote something down. I stayed at 2 units for the rest of the she even though the count was really good. Next round count went good, I raised, he wrote something else down, (raised one unit) then he went and used the phone. Immedialtely he came back to my game and when I raised again, he did the same thing. He wrote soemthing down, and then went to the phone again. This happened 4 times. The last 2 times I raised my bet in negative counts though to throw him off just in case. I then raised and fluctuated my bet with no rhyme or reason, still keeping the count not to raise it too high in positve. I actually played the next 3 rounds at a disadvantage. Luckily, I won a little bit of money. I then cashed in and left. This is a long story to ask, was this heat? If so, I know I fooled them. They then gave me comps afterwards. And my next question is how much time did I buy if this was head by fooling them? Should I back off? Or is it even really heat?

yes

There are 2 others, but one has only two good tables and There is a pit boss that used to count cards. I can only play there is there are not many people there and that pit boss is not there.

My first thought about him writing down something on your rating card when you were raising your bets is because he suspects you for counting and is writing down the times you are raising your bets and will then send that information to surveillance later on for them to run a skills check on you as well as check your betting with the count. I would not be so sure that you fooled them by raising your bets in the end in negative counts. Pit critters are not dumb and if he thought you were counting then he probably knows that are aware of the fact that he was giving you special attention and that you were trying to fool him.

If I were you, the next time I go there to play, try to play on a different shift then the this particular pit boss works and don't give them your players card if that's possible. I think your 20 hr weeks for awhile now has worn out your welcome and its very likely you could be met next time with unwelcoming suits.

Anybody who wants to "work part-time" [20 hrs./week] will be backed-off for counting cards OR for winning most of the time OR having an aggregate win over a period of months.

What would you do if you were the casino manager ?

YES, that was heat; sloppily done though.

You handled it well.

My advice:

STOP playing there, for the next few months, at the very least.
Do not let your greed and addiction (?) screw you up.

Once they actually give you "the bum's rush" they will "flyer" you to the other local casinos - your name and photos - and you will no longer be able to play locally.

The marking of stuff on cards doesn't seem a very permanent way to keep track of suspected advantage play. May have just been updating your bet level. The phone calls can be a legitimate problem, though.

Well first off 20 hours a week is way to much for one place. It is possible that he was just keeping trac of your betting average for comps if you gave them your players club card. I would think that it was heat though, you should back off for a while and next time play on a different shift.
