Help With Comps

Once I get caught up on work and finish unloading some properties I am going to focus more on counting. The casinos within driving distance of my residense have okay rules and pen but the betting limits aren't that high plus when wonging in for a max bet I get the stink eye so I doubt that I would last very long if I put in some serious time. I want to start making frequent trips to Vegas. I have been there several times almost always for free using AMEX points for rooms and air miles but only accumulate enough for a trip every other month or so. What is the best way to go about receiving comps? Do you just need a players card and need to check in? Is $1000 max bet enough to receive a good amount of room and air comps if not what is? Any help would be great from some of you seasoned vets out there. I have never even got a players card in an attempt to stay under the radar but when making consistent trips it is hard to pencil out with the travel costs.
Thanks.

My thought exactly...

these two statements don't reconcile:

1)Is $1000 max bet enough

2)when making consistent trips it is hard to pencil out with the travel costs

This does NOT compute.

Comps are factored on time and hours spent playing, more so than max bets.

If I plunk down a single $10,000 bet I will get zip in comps, the $5 bettor grinding away for marathon sessions will get a bunch more and better treatment.

I assume by "max bet" you mean the bet you make in the +5 or +6 counts, the house is not going to hang around and see that every 2 out 100 hands you bet $1000. You are going to get comped based on your average bet, which is probably your minimum waiting bet, since that is what they are going to see you make the most of.

Here is a good way to work it:

Locate which casino is the most liberal with it's comp policy based on your play and requirements. Make this your "home" casino.

Establish a friendly relationship with this casino, get to know the casino host, bring them a small gift when you come to town, etc.

Be prepared to spend a lot of hours playing in your new "home" casino. Play a "mild" game, your goal is to play break even, not to make money. Put in lots of hours, use various tricks to inflate what they think you are betting. Have your "home" casino supply your RFBA (room, food, beverage, air).

Once you have justified the comps you get from your "home" by putting in the hours, go out to the other casinos and play your "real" game. Make your money from them, don't worry about drawing heat or getting backed off, you are just an ordinary player in the eyes of your comp supplying casino.

This is exactly what I do/did. However, if you're trying to work a diverse amount of games/strategies, it's not a bad idea to have two "home base" casinos per city. This is in case you discover a really juicy vulnerability about your home base. You need a contigency plan.

Also, Comp City by Max Rubin really is a pretty good read.

lol i like that synopsis. i never have fully understood this getting comps thing.
so but like in my case i have a number of casino's within driving range but it costs me for the gas. one of the joints is crap to me for blackjack. the others are pretty much ok games. so i could make the crap joint my focus for making comps. bed down there on their nickle and raid the other joints for their superior blackjack. sweet. :cool2:

Thanks for the good advice. Anyone have a good choice for a home casino in Vegas? I will be playing mostly mutideck but the way I see it if the home casino had a good DD game my average bet would be higher with the same max bet so I could spread $250-$1000 without a problem most likely.

No, that would be a third reason. They ARE very nice there:p Let's just say it's SO JUICY, I don't even want to put it on a public forum (and I'm pretty liberal with what I divulge.)

Is P Hollywood the one with the lingerie dealers? That would be a nice "home" casino. I bet the games aren't very good though. Seriously though, what about a good off strip place to frequent? Or maybe the older casinos on the North end? If I remember correct I think Sahara had a decent game once.

Sahara can get kinda hairy. They watch their DD games pretty well and there's not a lot of them. Sahara is not a very "large" casino. I would call it moderate. And as far as services, they are sub-par. However, if you are just playing to break-even at DD and get comped rooms and whatever else they'll offer "you" (not "you plus a woman"--she won't be very impressed:laugh:), it seems like a perfect fit! I say this because it is NOT one of the two big franchises. Plus, it's in close proximity to both the Strip and Outer Las Vegas.

I don't rember putting the information on a public board. Maybe you know my posts better than I do? YOU CAN'T MAKE ME SAY IT:cry:

In terms of the Half&Half hotties vs. uglies, P.H. kind of does that too with a small difference. PH is like half hotties in lingerie and half male. Hooters is like half hotties and half uglies. I THINK IT'S PROBABLY A LIABILITY-THING. They (Hooters) probably don't want to get sued for refusing a job to an ugly female dealer.

I think a lot of the conventional hooters dealers worked there when it was San Remo. The one time I was there, the Hooters pit dealers were kinda skeezy looking, but there was a cute conventional dealer or two.

I heard Borgata gets away with all hotties by calling them models in the job description and not waitresses. Whatever they're doing, they're doing right

21forme & callipygian,

Where are you from 21forme? You gotta get with the correct womanizer lingo like callipygian. Over here in Soprano Country, we call'em "Borgata Babes." They're okay. Saturday's Borgata patronage is even better:p
