HET LV Stores: Stay In Which One?

Greetings,

I can stay comped in any of the HET properties in LV (Bally's, Caesars, Flamingo, IP, Paris, Planet Hollywood, or Rio)--wondering which would you pick for a non-BJ AP stay? (I'll do my BJ in other stores for obvious reasons, although I see Caesars, Paris, Planet Hollywood, and Rio have nice $100 games.)

Also, to keep the offers coming, I suppose I won't stay and stiff; to that end, what's a reasonable dollar amount of play to give them on slots/VP to keep the offers coming?

I know if would be cheaper just to get a room on my own--which I might do ultimately, or maybe I will stay and stiff --but for just for grins, let's see the consensus answer to this question.

Best regards,

FD

I'm not at all persuaded that anybody at HET routinely looks at the play of each player during a trip that includes a comped hotel room. At the whale level, sure, but I doubt that it's done for players staying on routine mailers. Offers are all computer-generated based on formulas calculated according to your past play. If you continue to have a good record of play, whether or not during the same trips as your comped hotel stays, I would imagine that your offers will keep coming. Otherwise, no, they'll dry up eventually, but probably not right away, even if you've comped and stiffed.

What I can say from experience is that offers by mailer depend only on your play in a certain city. Heavy play in Reno isn't going to get you offers for Lake Tahoe or Las Vegas, and play in Las Vegas isn't going to get you offers for Laughlin. Which is sort of weird, but that's how they choose to do business.

If you've comped and stiffed, I would say do not talk with a host, period. No reason to draw attention to the situation.

Remember that getting good comps from HET is all about trip average rather than the amount of your cumulative play. So running a few bucks through a VP machine on your card, or getting a comped drink at the bar, with no other play during the trip, can hurt you.

But I believe that your comped hotel stay counts as a trip, so there's probably no HARM in doing some light play on your card during that trip.

Caesars.

HET's comp algorithm isn't what it used to be. I stiffed them a few times this year while staying at a HET LV hotel and now I have no comp offers from them. BTW, I have a Diamond card.

OT, this would be quite an interesting homecoming for me. The last time I was at Caesars was to see The Merv Griffin Show in 1979 in the Circus Maximus (IIRC) room. Stayed at the good old El Morocco. Anyone else remember it? (I was too young to play, how was the BJ? Assuming it was a Mob joint?)

Old Vegas RULED!

Don't know about HET, but here's my experience with MGM Mirage:

Last time I was in Vegas, I ran through about $2-3K in slots/vp at the MGM Mirage properties (mostly in Mirage and Bellagio). As a result, I keep getting 3 free night offers from all MGM properties except Bellagio and Aria, which send discounted rates only. I am heading there soon to take advantage of free rooms, I wish they comped the flights too :(

So, it's not such a bad deal to have a theoretical loss of $100-$300 and get 3 free nights at above average places like Mirage, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand etc. Good thing for me was I actually made a small profit from my play last time, and got two comped buffets as well. So, not a bad deal overall :)

wwcd: Curious, that was over how many nights to still get your offers?

Last time I went, it was December, and I stayed 4 nights at TI, on my own dime (had a great deal). But I mostly played at Mirage and Bellagio. Over the 4 days, I probably played a total of 10 hours (I kinda like low-rolling on the slots with the occasional exciting hits).

I think the important mark was hitting 1000 points on the MGM Mirage card. When I asked for buffet comps, they told me if I hit 1K, I can get two free buffets. So, I did and they kept the promise. Plus I also got $10 freeplay for joining, and $10 freeplay for hitting 1K points. With the 3 night free room offers, they throw in $25 freeplay as well.

At that time, I wasn't playing blackjack at all, except match plays. Now, when I go, I'll mostly play blackjack with much less slot play, so it'll be a great way to test if the offers will keep coming.

The RIO has nice rooms (“the all suites hotel”) with a truly great buffet.
Yep. I'd recommend the Rio. There's a shuttle to the center strip, too.

Rather Pedestrian Otherwise

...but the Flamingo has a great pool area. At least it did last fall :)

Seriously though, if you are into some relaxing by a huge pool and several hot tubs in a pretty sweet environment it might be worth it to you. Rooms are OK, buffet is OK, casino is OK, location is great. Again, pool is awesome.

good luck and enjoy :joker:

If you have a car,I'd say Rio. Without one, I'd go Paris. The shuttle to/from The Strip is not such a great option at night, and isn't 24 hours.
From my experiance,I'd say 250 points a day will keep the offers coming.
Harrahs counts each casino as a seperate trip, so earning 250 points at Ballys is good. Earning 50 there, 60 at Rio, 50 at Harrahs and a 100 at The Flamingo is not as good. Your ADT in the first case is 250. In the second, even though you played more, your ADT is 65.
