Just wanted to say hi to everyone as I am new on the block. Just came back from LV two weeks ago. Played at the MGM and the Hooter's. Got about 10 hours in in two days I guess. Turned a little $1000.00 roll into $1600.00. Food, flight, hotel was covered by a business associate, so I guess I did ok, lol. First time in Vegas but I am ready to try it again...

That's awesome! Getting your expenses covered is very good for your EV

I am going to LV for my first time in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations and welcome :) Do you play Basic Strategy, count, or neither?

Hi Sleight, thanks for the welcome. I play Hi-Lo. If I step in in the middle of a shoe or if I am playing an 8D I will usually just play BS. I basically have been hitting the single, double and four deck games as an AP to make a buck or two, then spending some time on the 8 deck stuff just flat betting and playing BS. Seems to be working so far, but I usually keep my spread down too.

If you're going to play 8D with BS anyway, you should at least practice counting when you do it. Also, it's never too early to work on your "wonging" techniques, as 6 and especially 8 deck shoe games are much more easily beaten this way.

6.5

Even worse, Hooter's now has a 6D 6:5 shoe.
Many casinos want to find out just how many suckers there are out there. What they do in offering 6.5 is expose their own greed. They tip their hat in who they really are. People should be learning now from watching how Washington and Wall Street have destroyed OUR economy and not be thinking their "friendly" casino is any better.

Hi Blue, going to give it a try again next week, got a cheap round trip from Sunday to Wednesday ($105.00 from South TX to LV! including airport shuttle!). I want to get to the point where I am "looking" for the 8D games instead of just defaulting to them. Got a little more for the BR this time, going to work with $3000.00 over 3.5 days, hope to get in about 30 hours of play in if I can. I would say wish me luck, but let's just wish me skill, huh? lol.

They have 8D shoes in Hooters?
Shad, I didn't see an 8D shoe at Hooter's, that was at the MGM Grande. I walked across to the Hooter's when I saw the $3.00 24/7 blackjack sign from my window at the Grande. Made a few bucks there on Saturday morning and used the 2 for 1 buffet coupon from their players club to grab breakfast at Dan Marino's next door. Ended up sitting in on one of those "Super Fun 21" games for a few hands - weird stuff, but a lot of fun. Caught myself saying out loud "Kind of hard to make $$ at this game, but it sure is fun, lol" That's about when I decided to leave and go back to the Grande.

Yea that 6:5 is a beatch huh? It's amazing how many people playing thought that was better than a 3:2... Crazy huh? Never ceases to amaze me...
