High roller room

I was curious as to if some of my fellow ap's here choose to ever play in the high roller room? I would think it isn't a smart way to go as it seems to me that they have many more pit critters there than at the regular tables for obvious reasons. In addition, you stick out more because the tables aren't as crowded.

There is nothing I like better than a High Roller room. I like the privacy and exclusivity and there is actually fewer pit critters and they are usually very accomodating. The service is also second to none. Sad to say the casinos I frequent usually do not have HR rooms but when they have had them in the past I eagerly played them. I have had private tables opened up for me and friends on occasion, with higher mins and maxes, and that has always been enjoyable. It is something that appeals to me a great deal, and always puts me in hyper stalking mode, all out "BJ Warrior" play, and that is going to be very dangerous and....... very exciting. :devil:

There is a drawback to High Limit rooms, and it can be a fatal one.

Casinos that have such rooms [all casinos on the East Coast] are quite accommodating,
but there is constant ACTIVE real-time surveillance, not just unmanned videotapes running.

Here is a example the other week at the MGM (Detroit) get down they about 10 in the morning no 50 min tables open until noon. So I have 2 hours to kill. I decide to sit down at a $10 min 8 deck all the tables are full. It took 32 minutes to deal thru 1 shoe. People constantly coming and going plus the side bet perfect pairs it drove me crazy.

If someone is playing minimum $50, then what kind of spread do you use?
1-8?

I've also heard that max bet should be no more than 1% of bank roll, resulting in a 40k BR with a 1-8 spread?

1-6 for me when I play $50 min table. or sometimes 1-10.

Good and bad points

The bad point of a high limit room is that your game has a better chance of being watched carefully.

To me, the beneifits of playing on less crowded tables, faster overall players and that I might be the low bettor and not the whale at the table, outweight the additional attention. If I am spreading something like $100-$1,000 but am playing with another player who bets two to five thousand per hand, initially at least he gets more attention.

Still, one must remember not to camp out and leave after a short session.

One final thought, I often play in two casinos where pen is substaintially better on the regular tables compared to the HL area. Since their HL tables are also fairly crowded I tend to play the regular tables for the extra pen.

My experience

In my experience the H.L. Rooms generally offer deeper (and more consistent) penetration.

Also, most typically in stores where most of the pits are 8 Deck with H17, the H.L. room will be 6 decks with S17

high limit rooms

I have only walked thru the high limit rooms no way of playing them at all. I did have a chance to walk thru a vip room in vegas a long time ago complete with bar and whole nine yards. No one was really in there except the dealers and floors so no one minded me and the wife taking a tour. High roller rooms and high limits may be two different things to me. Most casinos have high limt rooms or sections but not all have vip rooms. These are the ones behind smoked or mirrored doors and by invite only most of the times. The vip rooms are for whales that like the attention they get for throwing their money around. blackchipjim
