High rollers in dice

I'm curious on the subject of high rollers in craps. I have seen for the first time in my life a true high roller in the game. I can't say where or the true amount of action I saw this single shooter put into play. He had the table to himself and only 1k chips were used. What's the biggest game you have seen or have been a part of. blackchipjim

One of my friends rolled the dice for a half hour and made about 6 grand. Bought in with about $200.

About 8-10 years ago when I was alot younger I was playing craps at MGM/Vegas. Back then I didn't bet much maybe 54 across the numbers $10 pass line bet with max odds of 50, so whatever there's a guy betting $27,000.00 across the numbers, for those of you that don't know the game well thats 5,000 on 3 numbers ( 4,5,9 or 10) and 6,000 on 6 and 8. I see two 7 outs on the first roll so he's down about $70,000 with his pass line bets after 2 shakes. This man shows NO emotion over just losing 70k, now I get the dice and my thinking is: Man, if I have a huge roll this guy might throw some cash at me or even make bets for the shooter which is very common amongst high rollers when winning. Nowadays I would never think that way but back then I had dollar signs in my eyes. Long story short I hit a few points and banged the numbers well for him, I bet he got paid at least 15 times on the numbers ( 15 x $7,000 = $105,000.00 minimum) thats if he didnt press. Turns out I got zilch, not even a " nice roll" or "thank you". A few years ago I asked one of the dealers there about that guy because I seen him there after that day, evidently he owned quite a few of strip clubs and the reason I haven't seen him since: He's in prison. This guy looked like Steven Segal with a pony tail and always had at least 1 body guard with him.

Other than that I've seen plenty of 1k chips bet at craps in the Mirage and Bellagio, in fact I'll get some of my numbers pressed up over 1k if it's a hot roll, it's just got to be there money I'm playing with.

High Roller

About 20 year ago I saw a High Roller in AC. They brought out the Gray $5K chips just for them. That has been the only time that I ever saw them.

He was playing DP. When I saw his bank roll, it must have been $1MIL. He had a row and a half of Gray chips in his rack. He would bet $10K on DP and lay ($40K) dbl odds. The point was 4. He had $50K against the point 4.

The crowd around the table was about 3 deep. You had to look up at the mirrored ceiling to see the table.

Someone standing next to me, who didn't understand how to play, asked me what was going on. I explained that the guy had $50K against the 4. The next toss was a 4 and he lost.

The table turned hot and he continued to bet DP. I had seen enough and left to play at another table. When I left, his bankroll had shrunk from a row and a half to a roll of chips that he could hold in one hand.

I was with my friend and he stayed to watch. When he joined me later I asked him how the High Roller did. His reply was-----He lost it all!

As a side note, I won about $200 and got comped for 2 dinners that night.

Saw a guy betting 2500 on each number. Cant remember if they were letting him go to 3000 on the 6&8 or not. It was a $50min table I would normally never play but this guy was tipping after every point was made. I watched a shooter go on a monster roll and they stopped play to call over more chips. I slinked in beside him to see if I could earn some tip money on the next roll. After the guy 7s out he's made $600 in tips and the high roller colours up for 136K. The high roller gets them to cash in 130K and holds back 6000 to bet on me. My point was an 8. He pressed his line bet to 1K and puts 5K behind it and my next roll is a 7... everyone left the table.

Yikes. Guy probably would have tipped you if you had hit the point.

I was in AC last watching a table.

The table was so-so.

A guy walks up to the table and throws down his bankroll on the table. The boxman picks it up ans starts counting it. $100-$200-$300----$8,769.

The player says "That can't be right. Count it again."

The boxman recounts with the same results-$8,769.

The player makes a comment that he thought he had $10,000. He says that the cashier must have shorted him last night when he cashed in his chips.

The boxman just shrugs his shoulders and asks him if he wants chips or not.

He says OK and gets Orange, Purple, Black, Green, Red and White chips.
It was like a rainbow. He puts all the chips in the rack and is ready to play.

He now has everyone's attention and everyone is ready to see how this "high roller" is going to bet.

He makes a $25 DP. That's it! WTF!

Why would you buy in for all that and only bet $25????

If he lost the DP he would come back with $44 inside, make one number and take everything down. He would then wait for the next shooter and again make a $25 DP.

If he won he would make another $25 DP. He never increase his DP bet.

The funny thing about his play is that after every result he would count his chips to see if was ahead or behind. It takes some time to count all those chips. He could have bought in for $500 and saved a lot of time counting.

I watched for about 45 minutes and left. He never wavered from his $25 DP or $44 inside play.

After some of the stories here, this isn't huge, but the biggest game I've seen were two high rollers, one with stacks of chocolate ($5000) and yellow ($1000) - maybe 20 of each - and his female companion, who had one big stack of yellows - maybe 30-40.

They'd regularly bet between $1,000 and $5,000 on DP with full odds (up to $10,000 if point was a 4/10), plus don't pass every turn (with full odds), plus a few place bets at $500-$1,000 a pop.
