hitting hard 17

i live in kamloops and the casnio here doesnt deal the dealer second card untill after all the players have played their hand so if you are sitting in the last sit and the dealer has a 10 up and you have a 17 i think the correct play is to hit because if a ace,2,3or,4 comes up ur hand is better and if a 8,9or10 comes up your bust but if that same card goes to the dealer so your 17 losses, this means that the only card that turly hurt you are 5,6and7 witch means there is a 23% (3/13) chance that youll get badly hurt. what does everyone think about this

Basic Strategy does not depend on where you sit at the table. If you aren't counting then basic strategy is the best way to play no matter where you sit.

Define badly hurt.
5,6,7,8,9,10 all cause you to bust.Once you have busted,it doesn't matter what the dealers does, you are out of play, anyway.
So how does a 5 hurt you worse than a 10?
If you hit,you have a 9/13 chance of busting.Nothing else comes into the equation. Not where you sit,not the size of your bet,nor even if the moon is full.

But what happens when you get a 3 then the dealer draws an ace? Everybody loses even though you hit. In the end you are better off standing and losing (yes, 17 is usually a losing hand!). As Scott said, your playing strategy will not change based on where you sit.

wow ur dumb think about it the deal tkae no hole card and im in last postion so iether i take the card or its the deals hole card so if the first card out of the shoe is a 9 if i take it i bust but if i stand that 9 goes to the dealer so i still loss those 8,9,10 hurt me no matter if i hit or stand

Wow - you're rude! You ask a question that clearly shows you don't know what you're talking about and then you insult people for trying to help you?

The weighted average EV's for hands in play pre-split for a H17 vs 10 ENHC 6D are:

Stand: -0.464
Hit: -0.615

There isn't a single CD exception to TD strategy.

Please feel free to be rude to me too, because I'm not planning on replying further...

There's a very simple way to avoid having to hit in situations like this. Try sitting at first base. Then you can get upset at the 3rd base guy when he ignores your very flawed advice.I'm going to ignore your insult because you are very new to this and have shown the sense to come to a board and seek advice from those who are much more experianced then you.
Here you can learn from the experiance of many very knowledgable players or you can continue throwing up voodoo nonsense that has zero backing. Your choice.
