Hole carding ?

So I was at this casino last night with a buddy just to have fun, not to count cars, but to just have fun. I know the 6 to 5 blackjack is horrible, (the game was single deck, 6-5 on blackjack, hit soft 17, DAS) but I noticed when the dealer was placing the hole card under her upcard, she would tilt the card up just enough to where you could see the hole card, so I sat down......which made me wonder if this game could actually be beatable with blackjacks only paying 6 to 5?! I know Jack, Jackson just posted a good thread on holecarding plays, but I was just curious if this could be advantageous if I knew the hole card (even though it is indeed 6 to 5)? Would the "Big Pat, Little Pat" strategy be best for this? Thank you in advance.

Yeah, the 6:5 game can be beat by hole carding.

Technically it’s not the best strategy but it is the easiest to remember. The “Big Pat, Little Pat” strategy is a simplified hole card strategy that will get you the money. A full HC strategy (like the one jack Jackson posted) would be better.

Depends how often you can see the hole card, but if you can see it everytime, play it 24 hours a day if you can lol.

A little foot note about the hole-carding strategy, is when the dealers has a stiff(12-16) you should stand on all your hands of 12 and higher, and/or hit your soft hand until you get 18 or better.

Im not sure but this should give you almost 50% of the gain from the hole-card strategy! I would think :cat: :dog:

Yes my heart was beating pretty hard...in a good way....but I was pissed because I didn't know how to work with it to my advantage...This was the first dealer I've seen do this so I was pretty excited....Hopefully when I go back this week she'll be there dealing. The only this is she didn't expose the card EVERY time, but probably 60-70% of the time.

Also can they kick you out if they find out you're doing this? I know they will tap out the dealer or show them the "correct" way to do it...but is it illegal?

No it's not illegal, but they can kick you out if they want.

I was thinking maybe you'd double your soft hands vs dealer stiffs (12-16).?

Not that doubling an A,2 vs a 10 wouldn't be a big tip-off even though you knew he had a 12.

Or are you just doing a "reasonable" strategy designed to not give away what is happening?

If so, or even if not lol, what would you think the HA would be in a game where one could see the hole-card every time but not make absolutely crazy plays. I'll let you define the "crazy" plays any way you want lol.
