Is there 3 shifts or 2? Is it pretty much standard for all of Vegas? Do the pit , dealers and surveillance all change at the same time? I need to know this in case when I'm there and find only a few playable games for me, I can hit each one 2 or three times a day for an hour at a time.

There are 3: Day, Swing and Graveyard. Different casinos sometimes have different hours for each shift but they generally have three 8-hour shifts for most employees.Tom007 said:

Unless you plan on betting multiple blacks don’t even worry about it. Just keep your eyes open and avoid any heat that starts building up. If it gets sweaty, just leave. be aware of the count
Here I do not mean the count, the way we mean it but a casino procedure.
Generally, before the shift change the new pit poss or sometimes even a shift manager will come early and go with the old one and do a count (and a review of players) on each table.
It is here is what I am leaving you:
1. The amount of chips in each tray
2. A reveiw of the chips on the tables and perhaps a comment on certain players.
3. Also review things like markers
This is a good time not to be around

From a family member
well my uncle worked surveillance for a casino and he told me that its usually like this most of the time .
Dealers
AM shift - 7-3 or 8-4
PM shift - 3-11 or 4-12
Graveyard is 12-8 or 11-7
There is usually 1 in between each shift like a 10-6 or 6-2 type thing
And the surveillance works close to the same but a half hour early and later same as the pit bosses.
Obviously this isnt always the case , but he said most 24hr casinos run this way.
He said the best time to get away with card counting is during the lunch times of the dealers cuz they usually play short handed and no so much attention is on you .
or if its a part time only place its usually the shifts split in half.
