How do you deal with basic strategy haters.

Had an experience yesterday when someone was calling me out on my basic strategy play. He was telling me I was taking the dealers 'bust' cards when I hit on hard 16s on 7> except for ls'ing and splitting 99s.

Furthermore, since I joined the table early shoe he said my hand was f-ing up the shoe and everybody was losing because of my play.

I just laughed at him but I was getting evil looks from others because of this a$$ clown running his trap.

Any way I could have tooled him? Or can I get a floor person to tell him to shut the heck up?

Maybe it makes for good camo... :D

I've had a dealer and a PC tell a player to shut up because he was cursing at me. One thing they really won't allow is one player to abuse another.

This is something you are going to get all the time as an AP and there isn't too much you can do about it. One thing I have done is just look downwards and belch loudly when someone gives me abuse. Then they just assume I'm a belligerent drunk and leave me alone. That doesn't work if they are also a belligerent drunk, because then they might want to fight and that's the last thing you want to get involved with.

I was playing at a table yesterday with a guy that wouldn't hit anything but 10 or 11 when the dealer had a 3,4,5 or 6. Finally a dealer asked him if he was sure he didn't want to hit his 6. He said, I don't want to take your bust card. The dealer had a 6. So the dealer said ok and turned over a 10. Then the dealer pulled a 5 for 21. I said across the table "Thanks for taking the dealer's bust card". He gave me a dirty look and got up and left the table.

PROBLEM:

SOLUTIONS:

1) If you are Wonging, act like you are fed up with him (not too difficult) and Wong out when the count drops. Feel good knowing that he is about to lose some money. :)
2) Give him the evil eye and say “Well then, one of us should leave, huh?” as you split a pair of tens.
3) Tell him “You shouldn’t have split those sixes on that last hand. I’m just trying to fix it and save everyone from your stupid mistakes.”
4) “Don’t blame me! I’ve been winning all day. You must be doing something wrong. But don’t worry, I’ll help the rest of you get your money back.”

Those are just a few suggestions.

It all depends on the count.

If its good, I'll try and piss everyone off by constantly splitting tens at +4, mulling over hitting my 12's against dealer 2 3 4's so everyone one can see how stupid I am and hopefully they will get peeved off and leave. My favourite is to just take ages to make every single decision, or ask the dealer every time what my total is, even after he just said it. Hitting soft 18 is another great one, take your time and ask other people what they would do.

If the count is low, its a good excuse to sit out. "Fine. I'll wait to the next shoe because I don't wnat to stuff it up anymore for you."

Cat fight!!!!!

Just to change the thread a little, this could be how do you deal with basic strategy lovers:

I have a niece that 11 years ago, I thought advantage play too. Today, I consider her the best that I know but because of family and career, she does not put in that many hours.

Years ago, she is sitting at first base and another woman is at third base. The woman at third, plays perfect basic strategy but she insults anyone who does not, yells at the dealer, complained to the pit about the dealer and then complained to the boss about the pit. In other words, she is unhappy and is spreading her ailment to everyone within hearing range.

Near the end of a shoe, the counts drops to a very negative level and my niece is dealt a total of 9 vs a dealer 3. Instead of doubling (basic strategy) her minimum bet, my niece plays the negative indice and hits. She hits a 3, hits again and pulls an 7 for a total of 19. No one else takes a card. Ms basic strategy at third base stays on a 17 with a big bet and the dealer turns an 5 for a total of 8 and hits a 10 for 18, taking all but my niece. Third base now exploads on my niece, that my niece should have doubled if she knew what she was doing and the dealer would have busted and she is relentless. The dealer asks her to stop and she tells the dealer off, the pit is coming over when my niece gets a few words in. She calmly says. "give me your chips" to which third base says, "What?" My niece now says, "I will play your way but only with your money, so give me your chips now or just shut up!" Woman gets pissed and leaves the table, dealer trys to hide his laught, pit walks away smiling and the guy next to my niece says, I wish I had said that to her earlier.

Now a word of warning. Had this been two guys, the chance of it landing up in the parking lot would have been greater. With my niece being a 6 footer and young and this lady perhaps 9 inches shorter and 30 years older, the chance of it getting physical were really slight.

I still love that concept. Playing your way with your money. Playing my way with my money.
Many call blackjack a team game, us against the dealer etc. Well when was the last time a teammate covered your losses?
