How much do you tip?

If you are making 5$ or 10$ bets how much do you usually tip?

Here in Australia tipping is rare and I don't think the dealers are even allowed to accept. So we don't tip.

Do you guys tip at all? And if you don't do dealers get pissed off or anything or slow the game down?

Also I had a dealer the other night that insisted on chatting for about 1 minute before everyhand. At first I thought it was because I was counting and they were on to me, but the next dealer came along and shot out the cards so fast it was crazy, i kept missing hands because I couldn't get my bet out fast enough sometimes when I lost (I was playing in the last square and the dealer would litterally muck his cards and start dealing almost instantly).

i'm a dealer

I'm a dealer in las vegas... and guess what there is a lot of things you can gain with tiping. for example there was a guy counting cards at my table... every two hands i would shuffle and this made him made. every time he would get a possotive count i would shuffle, he said, "man ever time" i followed with, what every time you get a positive count i shuffle... well guess what it takes?" a fuqing tip... duhhh. there are very spacific guild lines we have to follow to allow the player the lest amount of advantages. A simple tip is all it takes. another thing to think of... either the house pays us or you do... i've done some very sneaky shit to cheap players so watch out and get us in the god damn game. we make 5.15 an hour and if you arn't helping us out we don't do shit for you. we accually brag about how much we take from cheap players.so keep this in mind the next time you visit vegas

Damn, that explains it! I've heard the advise you preached in other threads from dealers before. I should have guessed. Nothing I hate worst than a toke hustling dealer!

simple man, either you pay us or the house does. if you want an advantage TIP!
a lot of "old time dealer" can really fuck you and take alot of money from you. I've seen it and done it!!

Oh they are out there. I got myself into a near-blackmail situation with one once.

My advice about tipping is:
1) Tip if you think it can get you an advantage (deeper pen, better speed, etc.)

2) Tip if you believe it is the right thing to do. Never, ever do something you believe is unethical for money, so if your ethics call for dealers to be tipped, tip. I personally tip at a level such that if everyone in the casino tipped at that same level, the dealers would be making a decent wage. That isn't very much tipping at all.

I see your point stovepipe. The thing is, that unless it is made clear what the arrangement is ahead of time, I'll be finding a different dealer as soon as I identify one who is prefferentially shuffling on me. You talked about 6:5 SD somewhere (Insurance thread I think)...well, if that's where you deal, you won't find me at your table anyway so the entire point is moot. However, if I find myself at a table where a toke will insure a good cut, I'm not above complying.

well my main point was this there are spacific guldlines we "should follow" these guildlines insure you the least hospitibale odds on your money. a simple tip can offer you much more than a smiling dealer.

I have tried this. The trick is to find a dealer with enough savy to understand what's taking place. I have to say that most of the dealers I've encountered have no clue as to "why" a toke is being offered.

"go for your own" as there called. where the dealer keeps his own tips. it's hard these days to find a dealer that will give two shits about you if his tips are split up between 100 plus dealers.

I tend to overtip because I worked for tips in the past. I have seen dealers actually pay me out incorrectly in my favor (no mistake) because of this. I would have never thought that dealers are actually counting along w/ me. I would definitely luv a deeper cut :)

Most of the dealers are very nice to me and I will tip, but if I don't hear a "Thanks" or the delaer is not appreciative the tips slow down significantly.

Do dealers care if you count just as long as they're getting tipped?

How much of a tip would you need before you started giving better conditions to the player?

Sonny’s policy on tipping…

I very rarely tip. If the dealer is exceptionally good then I will gladly tip them, but otherwise not. If the dealer is very fast, cuts deeply, doesn’t call “cheques play” all the time, or somehow goes out of their way to make my session good then I will happily tip them. If the dealer is hustling me, shuffling up on me, dealing slowly, slowing the game down by talking too much, or making mistakes (intentionally or not) then I will move to another table.

I have tried many times to get deeper pen by toking, but it has never worked. I have been hustled many times, and it has also never worked. Why should I tip a bad dealer if a better one is at the next table? That just doesn’t make sense. There are plenty of good dealers out there. Why waste your time and money trying to please a con man who is trying to blackmail you? I have had dealers intentionally make mistakes against me because they didn’t like me. That is cheating and I have sometimes had to call the pit boss over to fix the situation before I moved to a different table.

I have also worked as a dealer (BJ and craps). I know how crucial the tips are, but I never demanded them from players. I followed the house procedures and didn’t try to rip off the players. I have met several “rogue” dealers like Stovepipe and they really bother me. I don’t understand how someone can expect to be paid more money by doing their job so badly. That is why I only tip a good dealer. If they take care of me then I will take care of them.

What kind of bullsh*t smack are you talking here? Would you even know that we want PENETRATION? Would it be reasonably priced? Would we be cheated otherwise?

Typical dealer who doesn't know sh*tola about the game. zg

You are a real idiot. I am a dealer myself and never mistreat players who don't tip. Dealers in Vegas make more money then teachers so don't sound so hard done by. And if you're going to deal like a moron well there are dozens of other tables and casinos to play at. The only real way you can cheat me is by not paying me the correct amount and I always check.
