How much is too much play at one casino?

For the last 6 months or so, I've been playing about once a week at a casino in AC. I have a premium player's card there and have been taking advantage of the comps accrued from play.

Is this too often? Will my +EV raise a red flag at some point as they realize it's not short-term postive variance?

Well, common advice is to hide your +EV by ratholing the occassional chips while you're playing.

But... is this necessary or effective in AC?

I do that. I usually have a pocketful of green chips by the end of the day.

Is it necessary? I'm not sure. That's why I'm asking.

I always wonder how you stick a chip in your pocket without being noticed. Unless you grab a couple as you get up for a bathroom break and leave the rest there or something.

when i run to the john, i usually pick up all my chips except for one red one, that i leave as a placeholder. that's when i pocket the green ones.

though, there is this really funny phenomena at my local joint that i've seen 3-4 people engage in - there is a specific demographic that does this and i think i know the reasons as these people are obsessed with having a certain appearance - anyway: they never ever have any chips on the felt! ever! they keep them in their pockets, they hold them in their lap, when it comes time to bet following a losing hand they pull one from wherever they hide them. they never let anyone see how many chips they're up or down.

these people aren't APs, i promise you that..... they're comical wanna be thugs. i love playing with those guys!

EDIT1: you don't need an act with them around, you've got these goons in big puffy coats, baseball hats, grills, crappy gold chains thinking that they're hustlers at the $5 table. honestly, ploppies and civilians make the game enjoyable for me most of the time.

EDIT2: if i ever need a costume or act for cover, this will be the one i milk first.

Just be careful what colors you wear! Those dudes will f#$% you up if you disrespect them or try to imitate them. :cat:

P.S. - I thought the cat icon would lighten the mood. Also, nobody ever uses the cat in normal converstation so I thought this might be my only chance to slip it in. I like cats.

I usually wait until the PB and dealer are not looking and slip a couple of greens into my shirt pocket, making sure there are several left. Then when I go to the john, I move them to my pants pocket.

Sometimes you can slip then into your pocket unnoticed by hiding them behind something. Like when you reach into your pocket for a pack of cigarettes you can palm a chip (or just “thumb” it behind the box) and slip it back into your pocket with the pack. This also works with BS cards, matches, folded cash, Kleenex, business cards, keno/sports tickets or just about anything else you might have.

Whose watching anyway

The eye and the pit are not always zeroed in on you. The eye has few people and many cameras running and no one ever looks at the tape unless there is a reason to review someone's play or other reasons for review. The eye will zero in on you if alerted by your actions or the pit.

The pit will generally be keeping track of black or higher chips but not green except at real real low roller places. So players come in with chips, players color up and leave and around this time is always a good time to pocket a chip or two. Also, times when you take a break for the restroom, cigaretter or cell phone call.

You should not over rathole. You can not hide a big win from the house and that should not be your objective. You are looking to turn from a lifetime winner to a lifetime loser in the eye of the casino. Say, you are making $50 per hour from the casino: If you just pocket three green per hour (win or lose) you are now a player who loses $25 per hour. Do it every hour! If you win $2,000 in an hour the casino will see $1,925, lose $2,000, they see $2,075 and over the long run you go from winner to loser. Do not try to hide that $2,000 win by putting $500 in your pocket, it does not work but in this case you can pocket black. Most likely the casino will credit you with the blacks (so throw some greens in discreatly) but the pocketing of black and higher chips is acceptable ploppy behavior understood by all pits. You are simply putting the chip in your personal vault in the hope that it will never come out till you hit the cashier.

Oh yeah, someone's definitely been hanging out East County.

... they're actually hiding their red chips off the table? That's too awesome. Maybe I should go there and start slingin' greens with my "nerdy accountant" look just to see their reaction.

It is TOO amazing to believe. I've seen at least 4 different people do it, they aren't together, but fit the same "mold."

While backcounting at packed tables i'm always secretly hoping someone will go bust, so I can jump in --- so i'm always evaluating stacks of chips too, then come along these bafoons, who never have a stack, but always keep pulling chips out from somewhere. the casino may not know how much they have, but i watch them buy in for $30 HAHAHAHAHA :)

i love it.

side note: why is it that when civilians buy in for $20 at a $5 table they last all night, i buy in for $100, and am back in my wallet after a few rounds!

I think that's a Murphy's Law! Just when you think they are out of chips and a seat is going to open up...bam! Another red chip in the circle. Uggh.
