How to deal?

Let's say I'm dealt a pair of 8's.
So, I split them.

Does the dealer then..
A) Give me another up card for EACH 8, or
B) Give me an up card on ONE 8 and then I play that hand (if I want hit) BEFORE getting the up card on the other 8.

This should be SIMPLE, but for some reason I can't remember which way it goes.

The dealer will give you one upcard then you play the hand before your get another upcard for the other 8. You can also DD if the place allows DAS

the answer is B ZMAN. each split card is played as a separate hand. some joints limit you when you split a pair of aces. they will give you one card and one card only for each ace. also if you split a pair and end up with another pair you often have the option of splitting that pair, most joints wont let you do that with aces.

Wow! Fast replies!!

Thanks guys!

B is the correct answer.
At least that is what I thought and how we've been dealing in a friendly garage game with friends.

Then, I've been playing this "Hit or Stand" game on the web and that is NOT how IT is dealt. If you split, it gives you BOTH of your up cards, then you play one hand at a time. Maybe for training and learning BS it's okay to do it that way, but its not like real world.

The Strategy Trainer on this site does NOT deal that way.
It uses B. That is, you get one up card, play that hand, then move to the next split hand.

With both of these training sites for BS dealing differently, I see why I was confused. Even though, I think both sites are great tools for learning BS.

Thanks again for the help!

It is often easier to write a program that deals out both upcards then plays out the hands. It will not affect your strategy or the odds at all, but it might confuse you a bit when you play in a real casino.

Let me know if you need a dealer. I've got quite a bit of experience. I can even make sure that your "friends" go home empty handed! :p

Actually, I'M the dealer. Anyone who gets a BJ can deal, but NOBODY ELSE wants to deal. Of course, I don't mind dealing since the 'house' has an advantage. Even so, sometimes the dealer does lose. Last week there were 4 players besides the dealer and all 4 of them won. Tough night for the dealer, but rare.
