About 13 weeks ago, I released a new version of Casino Verite. I vaguely mentioned it in response to a zg thread about Twitter on one of the miscellaneous threads well down this site, but have discussed it little. At least according to my aging mind. I mention it now as there is a new function that relates to this particular site.
This is an experiment. There is a new, optional “dashboard” that can be displayed at one or both sides of the table containing user selected “widgets.” One of the widgets is a Comm Panel that can tell you when a new post has been made to forums or blogs. To start, the BlackjackInfo forum and CV forum and blog are included. But, any forum or blog that wishes can make use of the feature without modification of CV. That is, while you are practicing with CV, you can receive notifications of new posts on this forum, with the start of the post, in a small window at the side of the BJ table. Click on the window, and you enter the forum with that post open. You can also see all recent posts. I worked with Ken before the release so that this forum could be a part of this experiment in social networking.
Frankly, I have to say that practice is boring. Absolutely necessary, for amateur, weekend warrior, and pro alike. But, boring. I added this partly to reduce the onerous task of practice, to improve communication, and to help sites like this.
Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.
(Sorry, I don't have a DOS version.)
