I wonder if I'm becoming paranoid...

You may recall from an earlier post, I experienced my first reshuffle last week in AC.

Yesterday, I played at a different house. Everything's going well, up quite a bit. Time for dinner break. After dinner, start playing again, mostly 1 and 2 unit bets as the count was a low +. Count starts to climb, I spread to 2 hands with 3 units on each. Next thing I see is PC on the phone and second PC arrives.

They go over to their counter in the middle of the pit, and I could be wrong, but I have a feeling they're reviewing surveillance tapes (can they feed that stuff directly to the pit?) trying to figure out if I'm counting. I lose a few bets in a row, and say that's enough for now and leave.

Maybe I'm totally wrong and being a bit paranoid, but I sure would have loved to have seen what they were looking at.

I'd be careful what you wish for...I hear a lot of pit dudes are into gay porn. :whip:

It's human nature to be a little paranoid when you know that you are up to something. Like you said for the first reshuffle, might have just been a dealer who was either "showing off" to the pit or a paranoid one himself. Hell, pit personnel probably do stuff like that to scare up any APs even if they haven't spotted any out. I guess with the philosophy that if a player isn't doing anything wrong in their eyes, they won't care...but if they are, maybe they'd rattle them.

Just thinking off the top of my head and recalling pit behavior...that is, if I am paying attention to them.

good luck

paranoid

I would say it's natural to feel that way at a casino. If you didn't you wouldn't be a counter. I always keep a eye out for unusual actions around the tables I play at. It is a signal to go into stealth mode and either flat bet or other evasive manuvers. If you feel the need to be banned or backed off to prove a point go ahead, but a healthy dose of paranoia is good. blackchipjim

I don't think they have tv's in most pits. It's not like onfield review of the tape at a football game.

Was this still AC? If so, I recommend walking over and asking them what the **** they are looking at, the damn homos.

Yes, in AC. This was in a high roller pit (which didn't have very high limits while I was playing.) I couldn't see what they were looking at, but I can't imagine it was something other than a monitor, either computer or video.

Don't worry too much about it, they don't have any surveillance moniters in the pits at your local place. As a matter of fact if there ever comes into question an error by the dealer or a player complaint, they will call up to the eye and have them review the tape, then they call down to the pit to clear up any questions. That basically tells you that the pit has no way of viewing tapes on the floor.

This wasn't my usual place. It was Uptown.
