Insure a Match Play?

You have $25 bet and a MP,dealer shows an Ace.You should insure it,regardless of the count, unless its a monster negative.$12.50 will cover your EV of $37.
I'm thinking it is best to take even money,as well.Especially if you lose the MP on a push, ala Ellis Island. How does EI handle insurance,as the MP is lost on a push?
Am I on the wrong track, again? With all the MPs I use, I'm sure I've run into this, but I don't remember having done so.

I've hardly ever seen a game where a MP pays anything but even money.
Thats why I think its better to take the even money approach, esp in the rare case where you lose the MP on a push.

agreed. even money is one way of realizing the EV of the match play.

let's say you have $5 chip and $5 match play. match play pays 1:1 and you are sitting on a BJ with vs. A up.

If you win you would get $7.50 + $5 = $12.50
If you push you would get $0 and lose your match play (MP EV = $0)
If you take even money you would get $5 + $5 = $10
your BJ pays in effect $7.50, your match play pays you $2.50 and you are ahead on the match play, whose value in BJ is probably slightly under $2.50.

this might change a bit if you only have a $5 match play and a $25 bet....

Incidentally, one local place recently started offering what would be "Funny chips" in grosjean parlance. I place a bet of one at the blackjack table, I get dealt a natural, the dealer calls the floor over and asks "what do I do?", to which I helpfully offered "you PAY me, is what you do!".

(they paid 3:2 on it).

Even money on matchplay!

taking even money when you have a matchplay is one good exception to taking even money and you should do it because you will get 2X your money. I usually play matchplays at the start of the deck so the count won't be too negative. If you take other insurance you will still lose your matchplay if the dealer has blackjack and you will just keep the money that you insured for. If the dealer is competant but he may not be.
