Jerry's Nugget in North Vegas allows you to use a losing sports bet ticket as a $5 matchplay, as long as the ticket originally cost $5 or more.
They must be used the day the ticket loses.
I'm not sure what the limit is, but it might be a good low roller play to make a number of $5 bets on games. If you win, great, if not you now have a $5 MP.
Or you might choose to grab some losing tickets off the floor or wherever.
New members get a few nice bonuses to boot.

Nice one!!!!

Nice, really nice. Wish i had the time to come to Vegas and have some fun!!!!! Maybe this winter, my parents do live in Laughlin, and there are cheap flights, hhmmmm....
Reminds me of a story when laughlin was first growing and its sister town across the river Bullhead City was also growing. Anyways the SafeWay grocery in BHC had a buy 20 dollar in coin and recieve 25 coupon on the back of the register receipt.. I believe Riverside Casino (aka the Slide) was doing the promo. Man i spent alot of hours scavenging the receipts. Even went as far to get into the dumpster out back. LOL
Also for BJ about the same time, Ace coupons in a few of the papers about town. My dad and i spent 4 hours one night rounding up all the coupons we could find. Got a bout 800 of them. Try as i might could only get about 500 used and that was alot of work.....
How about the ole bet both sides of football game and mail the winner in at Harrah.s , they would send you a check for the amount . It looked like a payroll check. TAke said check to Pioneer casino, cash check and receive a coupon for Double your four of a kind promo. Bang the 5 dollar 9/6 JB. Very nice stuff way back. Would be fun to do stuff like that again. Also had about a dozen girls that would cash their paychecks there , we would bankroll, give them a few bucks, they got to play 5 dollar VP together ,they got to keep all comps. Man they had fun, i still get a phone call once in a while wondering if that will ever come back!!!! LOL
Thanks Shadroch, wish i could take advantage of it. I know Lonesome Gambler will.
Take Care all Good times!!!!

That's a nice red chip promo. If there isn't a severe limit on how many you can use, make your sports bets on the long shots, that'll give you lots of losers to use as match plays.

Why not bet $5 on each side. One will win, one will lose and become your $5 matchplay at a cost of 50 cents. If there's no limit, you could do this a hundred times. :) I suspect there would be some kind of limit though.

The real play is to just scoop up discarded tickets.
Not at all. You'll be seen picking up the tickets which could set them off. It's time consuming and could help kill the promo.

Just as good, let's say you buy a hundred 100:1-type odds tickets with an expected return around 95%, for $5 each. The expected 99 losing tickets you now possess cost you $25 in EV, quite a bargain considering they are worth $495 in free play now. If you were to buy 1:1-type odds tickets, you'll spend the same $25 in EV but only have 50 losers to play at the table.

Does the bash group know your new handle is "dumpster diver"?:laugh::laugh:
I recently read about a couple being robbed by a third party while having sex in a dumpster! (could be called having a different kind of losing ticket)
Must have been a nice crowd!

A match play is not worth its face value, it's actually worth slightly less than half the face, especially if the casino pays only even money on a natural.
Perhaps a small bribe to the maintanence guy.

This sounds like the optimal way to play it.

Sorry AM, not much of a sports bettor here. Can you explain what a 1-type odds ticket is and how it works? I googled it, but got nothing.

Question for shad, or anyone familar with this casino, because I am not. What kind of place is this? Is it one of those small places like bighorn, longhorn that only has a couple BJ tables and sweats any action over a quarter?

Jerry's Nugget is a mile or two down Las Vegas Bl. from Fremont St. In a direction away from the Strip. It's not in a good part of town.

It has a bowling alley. Last time I was in Vegas I met a friend there since he was bowling in a tournament there. As I recall the casino isn't very big. I didn't play there but played a little elsewhere downtown on the trip, mainly for recreation.

It's much bigger than either of the Horns, but it's small enough you wouldn't be able to wong in and out without drawing attention to yourself. It's a low roller casino, the kind that doesn't stock the pit with black chips.
It's not in the best of neighborhoods but the armed security guards will walk you to your car if asked, no tipping allowed. i've never done it myself as I've always found a spot close to the front doors.

not a "1-type bet" but a bet that pays off 100-1.
