It's a good addiction

Once you learn to count you just can't go back to progression betting, flat betting or whatever! More than once I've been at the casino, maybe feeling a little lazy and thought "I'll just play using a positive progression today and take it easy on my brain"
Can't do it-after a couple of hands I feel I'm missing out,cheating myself!
I also love Wonging in and Wonging out. Even if my bets are small I know I'm only betting when I have an advantage, not the casino. Now that's playing cards!

Yup, counting adds a whole extra dimension to the game. Not counting feels like flying blind.

Some people don't seem to mind flying fuzzy, however! :p :)

i still practice counting with a deck of cards a couple three times a day or so. practicing is actually kind of fun for me, i guess on the order of how people like to play solitaire and work crossword puzzles. still write out the basic strategy chart with departures for the games i play as part of practice. also find that fun. then i practice 'fuzzy' counting daily also using CVBJ. more fun.
in the casino i don't count cards anymore. i have two problems with counting cards in the casino. i can keep up with a full to semi full table but i never was much good keeping up with the dealer one on one. problem is for me focused on keeping that darned RC. it's too slow to the point of being annoying (for me) when the table is full to semi-full and it's too darned fast for me to keep up one on one lol.
the very first time i ever played blackjack in a casino i was counting cards (but it turned out the game was a CSM lol). so i never experienced the differant dimensionality of counting while playing blackjack and not counting in a casino. but funny you should mention the analogy of flying. i liken the comparison on the 'fuzzy' count and orthodox counting to the comparison of flying the Wright brothers first plane by the seat of your pants to flying a modern fighter jet.

Oddly enough one of my own early encounters with CSM's was this way. I kept wondering why so many aces and tens were coming out in "low" counts.

Ah hee hee hee.

So I bugged a dealer and asked him "how often do you shuffle?" and he tells me they shuffle constantly.

Whoops! That was only a couple years ago.

Sounds like you've got a sword there, but just don't feel like taking it out of the sheath. At least with your system you're not totally in the dark about the state of the shoe.

On this scale I would be something single-engined, prop-driven.

yea lol i remmeber sitting down at a real blackjack table for the first time in my life and being all prepared with the counting expertise and all...... and i'm playing along only to finally notice (when i was gonna check the discards to determine the TC) that the dealer is scooping up the cards and putting them into that funny lookin machine that he was pulling the cards from..... lol .
my wife was there with me and i suddenly get up and she asks me what was wrong. and i go "that tables no damm good".... lol
i felt like such a fool and well i guess i was lol
then i sit at a shoe game, it was eight decks and i think i thought it was six.... but anyway i proceeded to get my ass kicked lol.
live and learn i guess lol :cat:
