I'm not new to the game and I have had runs starting with $235 that turned into $10 amazingly fast!

Caveat

When I was 15 years old, I had snuck into Belmont Park and won nearly $100.
Not an inconsiderable sum for a poor boy, back in the early 60's.

My father caught wind of my joy.
He was visibly upset.
He said that my windfall was "The Kiss of Death"
I was perplexed.
He said that the worst thing that can happen to someone is to WIN early.
He would rather I had lost whatever cash I had.
He had an 8th grade education and was seriously neurotic, BUT he was oracular.
Looking back over the last ½ century I can see that there's a common thread that runs
through "pathological gamblers" - - usually termed beginner's luck.

The poster, having stumbled on "free money", now imagines that he can "walk on water"
