the game i'll be playing is 6d DOA, DAS, H17

for simplicity can I make the IRC 0 and have my key count be 16 and my pivot point be 24?

also for taking insurance with the knockout system, is it correct that they only time I take it is if the count is one less than the pivot point? so if my IRC is 0 than i would take insurance at 23 or higher?

and for wonging out, is it correct to assume that if i ever get to -16 i'm gone? not sure if this is even close to correct, i was just wondering if you can apply the key count in a negative way? or is it going to be less of a - count because KO is unbalanced, so it would be a higher count that I would want to wong out on.

and finally, I've heard that a much smaller casino, next door to the one I've been going to offers a 3 deck game with 3$ min bet instead of 5. From what I understand less decks = +EV for a counter, so would this be a better game for me??
Also what, if anything other than the IRC would I modify when switching from 6 to 3 decks?

Yes

The book explains when to wong out. It involves a little deck estimation. Not sure about the exact numbers on when to wong out.

Good luck finding that!

IRC = -8, KC = 0, Pivot still +4

If you're playing 6 decks, it's easier to use their rule of 5's:
IRC = -3
begin ramping bet at 15 (also stay on 16 v 10)
max bet and insurance at 20 (plus the other index plays)

Another Modification

Another way to adjust the counting levels for 6D would be to make...
IRC = -16
KC = 0
PP = +8

I've found that setting the KC = 0 helps me to create a "turning point" at which you start ramping your bets and use that first index move (16 v 10). Preparing for play in AC drew me to this because they say most of the non-high roller tables are 8D. In that case,
IRC = -22
KC = 0
PP = +10

Nonetheless, that's how I roll, but different things work for different people.

Good luck with this--KO is a nice little system, easy to implement at the table.
