KO Betting Question

This is a betting question with KO preferred so I don't know if I an in right forum, but since it is in the general section I think I will be OK. I just got back last week from a several days in Vegas playing DD with KO preferred using the 1-5 spread as suggested in the book. I have been playing green chips, however at some of the casino's that have a majority of $10 minimum tables (Station's) I have been betting the minimum when at the -4 and below and slowly increasing my bet upwards toward the green chip, so that I reach it at the 0 count, then if the count goes positive I start betting up as if in some type of progression. I have not noticed any heat and I keep my sessions below an hour. My question for some of the more mathamaticly astute people on the board is; Does this affect my EV positively or negatively or is it neutral? I am heading back next week and wondered whether to continue this or just stick to the green chip bet until I reach the 0 count than ramp up. Thanks in advance.

Please clarify

You mention using a 1-5 spread at a $10 table which implies a max bet of $50. But you might mean that you're measuring the 1-5 from when you play your first green chip, for a max bet of $125. Which?

If you are betting less than your normal unit at minus counts you are effectively increasing your spread. That is going to increase your EV, since you will be betting less when the house has the advantage. So if you can get away with it, go for it! That does mean that you would be spreading 10-125 in a DD game, which is a little high unless it isn't a very good game.

Thanks, ScottH. That is what I was thinking so it is good to have someone confirm. I realize this would be a large spread, but I have been slowly ramping up the bet from 10 to 25 until I reach the 0 count then shift to the green chips. Sometimes I bet the green chips in the -4 to 0 range and that seems to be good cover. Anyway have not had any problems yet, but tend to limit my sessions to 45 to 60 minutes. Only had problems in the Suncoast, but that seems to be normal with that bunch. Cancelr thanks for the reply, I did mean that I was betting green chip from 1-5 spread. Thanks all again.
