KO/I18 question

My understanding is that the KO count is a 'true count.' There is a table in the KO book that has 18 plays and divides them into 3 different categories with different counts. Doubling a 9v2 is in Category and is done at +4 (for double deck). From this thread (http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=9666) 9v2 should be doubled at +1. What is the reason for the discrepancy? Am I missing something? I understand that there were likely some simplifcations in order to have only 3 categories for the 18 plays, but there is already a +1 category...Any help would be appreciated!

Ko is never a true count by the virtue of it is a unbalanced system... The count gets higher as the deck goes on.... 9 vs. 2 for most balanced count is closer to 0 or 1 true count....

The closest you can come to true count equivalence with an unbalanced count is to have different strike points for different levels of penetration. This seems like a waste of time unless you are good at memorizing and terrible at division. You will need to estimate the current penetration which for a balanced count when combined with division gives you the true count and only has one index to memorize for each hand match up.

KO is not a true count; the only time KO running count equals true count is at +4. I think you'll find the KO full (as opposed to KO preferred) index for 9 v 2 is +2.

Thank you! After looking up KO Full I can hardly believe how close KO Preferred is to it in performance...I guess I had thought that the specific values for the index plays were more important than they actually are.
