Let's figure a basic six week casino playing/travel strategy.

Travel and gaming.

The other week i made a discovery. not a new one per se but an adaptation of an old one:

I've been in business for myself a looonnngg time. Early on I developed regular clients (construction). Now as my base of clients grew I began to "cherry pick" who I would work for. I wasn't starved for business any longer and could afford to dump customers who were cheap or were just more bother than the next guy was.

Also meant that I didn't need to offer low prices to my new customers just to pay the rent. In fact one of the things that makes it hard for a businessman to stay afloat are nuisance clients who drive them nuts and deliver little if any profit.

So toward the middle of my career I found that the days I made the most money weren't out in the field fixing things but at home on the phone. Either accepting contracts or rejecting them. While no money was even tossed back and forth on those days the expected return was greatly increased down the line.

It seems to me that the networking and inventory of casino visits must be important. In other words: When I check the landscape for better games down the road I'm actually making more money doing that than splitting nines four times and doubling twice.

So: It is my idea locate a whole ton of casinos within three hundred miles South (or North, East etc.) then rent a car, burn some fossil fuels and see what kind of games each house has. While I'm gone will take some money to play but am more concentrated/focused on finding the places i like. This is how the trip will pay for itself.

Sure we can advise each other of the better games and exchange info among ourselves. This will reduce or increase the list of places we will go.

Like we won't bother with Ho Ko Pah (or whatever it is) in Ukiah, CA because they pay even money on most naturals. But we will check out "so & so" because they offer low minimums, good deck penetration etc.

But a lot of it will still be road work.

OK now after I've completed this loop. I start back at page one but won't be wasting time. i have a list of the joints to visit and hope to make decent money at least two thirds of the time.

A "Six week low to medium stakes strategy" which can then be repeated without running risk of much heat or observation. Later on new areas will be discovered maybe further down the pike.

5K not including separate purse for travel expense. Low tables. $5.00 to $60.00 buck spread with increase if average or better luck prevails. Mostly a fact finding tour. Low budget trip. Maybe buy cheap second hand RV before taking off. Sleep in large casino parking lots to lower overhead.

Points A through L To be repeated with some variation later in the year. Or the following year.

Area? Central CA to AZ.

Some visits to Sin City.

Year after? Maybe Oregon and Indian casinos north.

A copy of current blackjack news from bj21.com works really great to get a general idea of what's out there. Especially to help identify "clusters" of places that fit within your current bankroll. (Reno, Biloxi, etc).

Plus, it saves you gas.

You might want to stop reinventing the wheel. Just buy a copy of CBJN or TrackJack and hit the good casinos, just like hundreds of other players do.

With all due respect to CBJN and TrackJack, they really just have the basic information. They tell you how many tables the place has but not how many are open during which shifts. They also don’t list things like promotions, crowd conditions, sweatiness, which dealers are the best, or penetration levels (other than generic numbers). More advanced players might also want to know about the house shuffle, type of cards used, dealing procedures, other games, etc. Although both CBJN and Trackjack are great places to start, there is often much more to be learned about a casino before deciding on how to play them. The only way to know exactly what to expect is to see it for yourself.

Try to put together 15k for the trip. Better still - get some Republicans to back you for 25k. zg

I don't think that's what ZG meant by "back you for $25k." Although that's a pretty generous offer if you can find it.

That won't work. They use all their spare cash bribing off victims of their latest crimes. Try one of those "I'm for the poor folks" Democrats like John Edwards. They give their money to no man, but a little investment here and there might be just the ticket!

you know what is great? phones.. you can just call every casino, tell them you are coming from very far away and you would like to speak to the pit and just ask what their rules and penetration are, and make sure to let them know you will be driving a long distance.. why the hell would you go on like a $1000 road trip just to find out how AP friendly each casino is? sure, there are things you cant find out over the phone, but those things are nothing compared to rules, table minimums, and penetration
