Looking for a culturally acceptable casino in LV

What I'm hoping to find is a store in the LV area that I can slow-play for lodging/food comps and use as a "home base" when in LV.

Most of these places are totally unbearable to me. I am always surrounded by this jungle jump music, blasted at an insufferable level, and the hooting, howling, screaming civilians everywhere making the entire experience one of low class. I mean, I don't mind playing in those conditions, I can play in any conditions, but when the playing day is done and it's time to have something to eat and relax, it's just awful. My room right now is right on top of one of those jungle jump nightclubs and it's difficult to sleep.

Is there any place where the dominant music is progressive rock, maybe some classical, or even American Standards? With good service, decent food and beverages, and a peaceable, sophisticated crowd that doesn't dress and act like they are mentally afflicted? And clean rooms. I cannot abide filthiness.

We stayed at Caesars our last 2 trips, comped of course. Got some nice upgrades being a Diamond. Was fairly quiet last trip. Prior trip we wound up calling security on the group next door - group of Asians who left their kids alone in the room at night with endless screaming. The security visit worked, though.

The Tuscany is a quiet place I am told.

Several floors are held for airline employees, who favor the place for its excellent location.

As far as the room proper is concerned, the times I've stayed at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay have been very peaceful. The suites are very well-appointed and clean; nice shower, 42" plasma TV with DVD, iPod dock, etc. Comped stays aren't too hard to come by . . . if they don't offer THEhotel right off the bat, there are many days that a comped stay at the regular Mandalay Bay hotel will include a free suite upgrade.

There are a couple of upscale restaurants and a nice lounge that are separate from the rest of the Mandalay Bay physical plant, which you may find rather subdued--not necessarily a bad thing!

On the grveyard shift, both the four Queens and the Vegas club play 1960-early 70s rock music. rooms are decent at the 4Queens and I enjoy both Magnolias and Hugo's Cellar.

I always liked the Monte Carlo for just that purpose - Home base. Kind of the low end of MGM properties. Located right in the middle of the lower end of the strip, where I play a lot and everything is within walking distance. (everywhere is walking distance, if you have enough time...Stephen Wright) They have decent $10, 6d, S17 games with a house edge of .26 and the 10 tables are crowded, so you will be playing slow. Play $25 unit with a modest spread and you can win while still accumulating decent comps. Then when I hit the other MGM properties nearby, I played unrated and upped my spread.

I also used Tropicana similarly as a home base for a while

Here is a heretical thought - how about the Sweaty Spaniard? They're basically giving rooms away, if you want something a little more upscale try their Cabana Suites right across the street. No hip-hop in this joint. Food in the steakhouse is good, plenty of $25 coupons (M-Th) available, the coffee shop is inexpensive for breakfast and lunch.

All great suggestions, thanks. I'm kind of aiming for a HET property because I get so much HET action in in AC. Was at the Flaming O this weekend. The only nice thing about that place is the flamingo park, everything else is substandard.

Also played at the Mandalay Bay but there are very profitable games there, not a place to take it easy on. The Tuscany will sweat my action and expel me for sure. Tied a personal record this weekend- douched out of 5 stores in 8 hours.

Do you have to get comp stays or are you ok with staying at a Non-casino property?

What are you willing to pay per night either at a reduced casino rate or just paying for it...

HET in general is good for getting cheap rooms. Someone I know likes the RIO as a property and rents a car and uses the RIO as a homebase and then goes to the strip.

Any report back on whether or not TI has different players cards now? I haven't been back to TI since it was MGM

You don't have to rent a car to get from Rio to the strip. It is less than a half mile walk right down flamingo Road with wide sidewalks) or there is a free shuttle to the other HET properties. I like Rio because its off the strip a little but didn't suggest it because it sounded like AM was looking for a place that didn't have a young crowd dance club with lots of thumping and rio definately has that! (although it is 50 floors up)

There are two places from MGM and HET that I wish they would blow up.

MGM - Excalibur

HET - Imperial Palace.

IP is NASTY. Its the armpit. The escortez of HET. <-- This is of course just IMHO, but I really don't like the place.

RIO is a younger crowd (I think), but that's relative and I don't know how old AM is or if he is dog typing on a computer...
