The ol' vets tell it like it is kid. And believe me when I say you will be glad it is not sugar coated. IF you should apply yourself to this discipline, you will need to absorb alot worse than this. Their is a wealth of info here, and, even though some may be a little rough around the edges, realize you are getting free info, and most are good enough to respond. Good luckGeez you guys are critical to new members seeking advice from this forum.
yeah, it's like for example in Professional Blackjack the appendices for true count frequencies where there are listed -0, 0 & +0 true counts. i mean i guess that's where you might have a running count over some range depending on how you calculate your true count (rounding, flooring, truncating) before the value of your true count actually changes. and then for the other integral true count values those might have a whole range of running counts associated with each of them. to where your running count can be fluctuating some but your true count might be staying the same. so it seems a lot of things might be happening at some true count to where there could be low or high cards comming out to some degree but the true count doesn't change. interestingly kind of analogous to how phase changes go on with freezing or boiling water. and then you have super heating and cooling effects in addition to normal phase changes. might could happen like that with cards too to where yeah you got some nice high true count but it just keeps going higher or what ever.blackjack avenger said:On average in positive counts the running count drops while on average the true count remains the same. On average in negative counts the running count rises while the true count remains the same.
yeah lol, i'm experiencing a lot of that with the 'battle of the millenium' with jack-the ghostrider-jackson. to where i'll be able to show that happening a lot after the match when i show some of my logs. :cry:blackjack avenger said:On losing in positive counts - Yep, it happens. No one is going to win every hand, shoe, trip or longer.
I once lost 5 - 8 medium advantage 2 hand rounds in a row; the dealer was wincing every hand, and that is with the good cards falling. I think it was every hand of the shoe. The dealer advised me to leave. Well I eventually did. LOL
Please don't mistake being critical for being mean. The questions you're asking aren't unusual, and they've been asked before on the boards. There's a definite mathematical answer to a lot of questions, and people want to steer you in the correct direction as quickly as possible.pyedog80 said:Geez you guys are critical to new members seeking advice from this forum.
Remember that being aggressive has multiple dimensions. Increasing your bet spread is one way, raising your bets at lower counts is another way, but just as important (if not more so) than those two are looking for good penetration and not playing negative counts. You can be EV positive with flat betting - if you always wait until a TC +1 count before putting down a bet. You can break even on a 1-2 spread if you Wong out at TC -1 and play with good penetration.pyedog80 said:I will study all the advice regarding the spreads of 1~6 units and being more aggressive with my play.
I don't even notice bad streaks or good streaks any more. I think this is a necessary part of being a long-term player, although I'm not sure it's a good thing from a mental health perspective. I can very unemotionally lose several bets in a row - on my last trip I Wonged into a TC +2 shoe, and I lost 14 units on 15 straight hands (~10 min) after sitting down - 6 1-unit losses, 6 2-unit losses, 2 pushes, and 1 4-unit win - and the only reason I got up was because I didn't feel like rebuying with a TC of 0. I didn't even notice that this was a particularly bad streak until the dealer made a comment about it.pyedog80 said:do you guys battle it through the bad streaks or do you leave after 3 or so losses in a row?
Yea the riverboat casinos in MO suck. So if your max buy in is 500 then you can see my problem in playing larger spreads 1~6 units. One bad split and double on the split takes you out until the next refresh allowance. I suppose you could buy in the full amount and pocket the chips, come back later to buy in the full amount and pocket the chips and keep doing this until you have a good amount to comfortably play higher spreads.chichow said:and the old timers know you're playing in MO
