Made to bet minimum

I was shocked to hear some houses can make you bet the minimum only.

Can they do this in AC now? That is just about like being barred is it not.

The casinos consider it a polite countermeasure

They can pick the minimum or any other number, but tell you that bet is the only size bet you can make. They know that money is made by spreading and you no longer can spread.
So they did not back you off technically, but will force you to play with a negative expectation, so you back yourself off.

Should you deviate from flat betting, they back you off or bar you.
Should you decide to wong and they figure it out, they back you off or bar you.
Best to just leave and return after a period of time to play a different shift and see what happens. Stick around and they will remember you.

Of course in AC where you can not be backed off, they will refuse a larger bet, half shoe you and just annoy you till you take the hint.

I'm aware of being told you can flat bet only, but never heard of being told minimum bet only.
Yes, I've been min bet. You can still make plenty of money with backcounting and a large bet.

AC guys shouldn't be camping out at tables, that's why this happens. Shoes are cheap, wear them out. Part of my pre-session ritual is doing some leg stretching exercises, because it helps me move around the tables and between stores quickly and with less fatigue, thus increasing session EV.

i thot you cant be backed off for counting in AC?
No, they can't back you off per se, but flat-betting you and shuffling up after 1/2 shoe achieve the same result.
