Modified progression system

1st bet: Your entire bankroll

Either double it or lose it all.

Your money will be exposed to the house edge less this way then with some idiot progression system.

If you get lucky you'll win, just like if you get lucky with a dumbass progression system you won't go bust.

Or better yet, another strategy:

Hand the dealer your money, and walk away.

This way you save yourself the time and aggravation of when you finally lose 10 hands in a row (which SURELY isn't possible, right?) and go bust anyway.

This makes card counters look like mean spirited A holes. I don't believe that is the truth. Many people do not have the BR, or time, or ability to count cards. Most people do not care for Jimmy the Greeks technique. Many people think their time in a casino is not wasted or aggravating.
I believe card counters are patient, kind, and understanding. They do not tolerate someone claiming a progression changes the EV. But this thread proves they do tolerate a discussion about these topics. Am I just a naive country boy?

I think everyone has the ability to count cards. If they don't have the bankroll they certainly shouldn't be messing around with progressions either. How much of a bankroll does it take to make a Martingale or some similar progression work?

So when does the progression start, after doubling?

Actually, many of the 'savvy' old-time gamblers advocated just that - minimal exposure to housEdge
by making relatively few large bets. Like the book below by Mike Goodman, I first read when I was 10 >>

In the Walter Thomason thread he says about 120u...
...but his is a positive progression. zg

'everyone', hmm, you have not met my buddy and his family!! I think you may overestimate some of your fellow humans. That is a good thing though!
As for BR. The average BR taken to Vegas is $500. That is 100 $5 chips. Spreading at 1-10 lets see, how long would that evaporate at a couple of bad shoes!? As for martingale, I don't know. But for a simple up as ya win at $5 a clip, well, that could last a long time.

With all due respect to Goodman. He was on the wrong side of the tables!

I hate ploppies and have zero respect for them whatsoever. Progression bettors fall into this category.

Plus almost every progression system comes with a line like "you can win most of the time" or "it's unlikely you lose X times in a row" or some other bogus logic that implies the odds are changing.

I can be a real asshole in the casino too, or I can be real nice. It depends on a lot of factors. Generally the stores I play at often I'll keep good comportment and make sure the dealers/pit who see me all the time like me. If someones in a seat I need I'll try my hardest to make them feel uncomfortable so they leave. I just got done running off a guy at 3rd base on a potential double exposure game (unfortunately the read wasn't good enough). The asshole looked like he was going to be at the table all night (why does this always seem to be the case? The loser who gambles all night is in the seat you need at a flasher's table). So I get on the table and every time the guy wins a hand I change the # of hands I play. He starts whining about it so I told him to leave if he doesn't like it.

There's a few places where everyone loves me, and a couple places where some dealers/pit will give me a dirty look while I'm scouting around there.

I would not say APs are patient people. Most of them are interested in keeping the game moving since you're not making money if the cards aren't being dealt. The APs I know are a lot like myself. They generally hate ploppies and devised various tactics to run em off when they need to, and want games to keep moving, and have very little respect for people dumb enough to gamble.

Ah, so you hate people that aren't like you. My friend, you will have hate in your heart your whole life. What a sad way to live. The question you need to ask yourself is 'why do I have such low self-esteem?' A family man goes to Vegas to relax and you hate him for it. Now that is sad. So you want everyone to be APs or leave. Wouldn't the casinos have to shut down? You are shooting yourself in the foot and don't know it and think your smart for doing it.
