Hey guys! Just wanted to say hello. I recently started playing blackjack a little more seriously I have been reading this blackjack course online. I thought I had counting down until I hit the casino floor there are so many variables that can mess up your counting. I know the basic strategy but not well enough.

What would your advice be for a new player like me?

Thanks again.

Get some computer software and play thousands of hands of basic strategy. You can't be worried about basic strategy and counting.

And, obviously, practice counting more. Don't just practice counting down decks, but actually practice dealing blackjack to yourself and keep the count.

Greetings,

I am no expert, but the best advice I recieved was to learn basic stradegy till you know it in your sleep, then began learning counting. I do have the same issue, I get distracted by all the things going on around the table/floor.

Greetings,

its common to simply ask how many decks are you using. I have learned many of the dealers are friendly

I play in Showboat in Atlantic City and I wanted to know how many decks they use.
If you'd rather not ask just watch when the dealer holds the decks for the player to cut. Assuming average sized hands if he has to stretch to hold all the cards its 8 decks. But if he can hold all the cards fairly easily without stretching his hand too much then its 6 decks.

Oh... and if he just tosses the cards at you... its prob 2 decks :laugh:
