New to this but enjoying the learning process

Hello all..........I am very new to CC and blackjack in general. First time I played BJ was in February. I learned basic strategy very well before I went to Vegas. I liked it though I was pretty nervous. I came back and started researching AP stuff. Read a lot on this forumn.........got Casino Verite and practiced like crazy. I have finally gotten out to put it all to practice with good results. Of course some negative variance has come my way but I have been able to do what I have practiced efficiently.

Just wanted to say hi and ask a couple of questions.

I am wondering when I should move up in units. I have only 9 hours of AP play under my belt and have played below what my bankroll would allow.

One of my worst outings was when the table was completely full, will this affect the advantage of the game I am playing at that time. Seemed like a good count just never stayed around long or it just didn't get good.

As I have read from many others, I too am somewhat worried about heat because I only really have 2 places to play very locally. I will spread from 1-20 or 1-15. I have not noticed any heat but have been a tad paranoid about it.

Thanks for your advice. That all I can remember for now. lol

Thanks Dye........I figured that the slower play was not a good thing but more players seem to eat up more of the good counts right??? It may have just been variance too.

True, but they will equally take up the cards you don't want during low counts. If the count gets super negative you can leave the table and know that while you're gone they are still playing through the shoe.

I thought of leaving the table in those really low counts but since I am new and all I thought I would atleast experiment with it too see the results. It was a good learning experience.

Yeah in the future leaving during low counts is a good way to save money!

You have no idea how many times I'll come back to a table and ask how everybody did and hear "We got killed once you left." Then the best part is sometimes they blame it on you for leaving.

HA! Even in my very limited experience I have been blamed for alot when I have played (playing BS, indexes, etc.)

Funny part is: They actually noted the correlation between your play and their luck (which is the count). The only common mistake they do (and even scientist do): mix up correlation with cause.

I try to avoid full tables. Besides the game being slower, the other players are eating the good cards in high counts. Don't forget you always have the option of getting up and not playing, either temporarily of to find a new table, when the count goes south.

Thank everyone for your responses. I am still wondering about how to deal with the fact that I only have two very close places to play. I go to one weekly. I never play for more than 45 minutes. The other one has good rules but I try to only go there every other week now. Is this too much. WIll the heat come even though I play at such a low unit.
