Newbie Counting Question

I'm relatively new to the forum, and would like some info on which strategy would work best for me. I tried looking through the other threads so I didn't post the same question you people have answered multiple times, but I couldn't really find one.

I've been practicing quite a bit lately, and can count through a full deck in about 35-40 seconds so far using the K-O method. Obviously with the K-O method, each deck is a +4. I understand the method of dividing the count by the remaining decks to get the true count, but does that still hold true for the K-O method?

For example, if the count is 20 with 3 decks left (or 3 decks gone in my 6-deck game), does that mean the true count is 6.6? I'm assuming no because that is ridiculously high, but I'm not sure of how to do it correctly.

Also, is there a different method that would work better for my particular game? It is 6-decks, dealer hits s-17, no hole card, no surrender, allowed to enter midshoe. I have only been practicing K-O, but after looking at Hi-Opt I, maybe II, and Zen count, I think I could make the transition.

You do not do true-count conversions with KO. The whole point of KO is to avoid doing that.

HR,
You don't do anything. With an unbalanced count (a count that doesn't end on 0) like the KO, you base your bet on your running count. That's why many people feel that the unbalanced counts are simpler to learn than the traditional balanced counts (a count that ends on zero). If you are planning to use the KO count i highly recommend picking up a copy of 'Knock Out Blackjack' by Olaf and Vancura as for all it'll cost you it would be pretty silly to try and impliment a system that you haven't read all the details of.
However if you feel that you can handle a true count conversion i'd suggest moving over to the Hi/Lo count and picking up a copy of Arnold Snyder's 'Blackbelt In Blackjack'. It's not really noticably stronger than the KO, but if you ever do wish to move on to any of the more advanced strategies - not that i'd recommend them to the vast majority of players - the Hi/Lo is far more compatible and a far easier base to start from.

RJT.
