No whole Card

While I was in Argentina last week, I played at a casino that used the No Hole Card rule. I had never played this before, so it was very strange.

I know it is a disadvantage, but Im wondering why exactly it is. I mean I didnt realize that hitting and getting a 21 lost to a dealers BJ which sucks, but I mean is that the only reason?

Also, I would imagine you lose all double-downs no matter what you end up with if the dealer happens to get a BJ?

Not sure that's always true. A similiar "no peek" game (dealer checks for BJ AFTER the players hit) that I played in Aruba took only the orig bet if you doubled or split and they got BJ.


I think there's an option for this on the strategy engine here.

The no peek game is different than the no hole card game. In Aruba did the dealer deal out his hole card on the first round?

Yes, s/he dealt the card, but didn't look until after players played. Not all Casinos in Aruba play that way. Someone told me it's sometimes called Bahama rules.

Does 21 push a blackjack? If you double down or split and get 21 do you get to push a blackjack in some casinos if they don't check for blackjack that is the case in some but not all casinos. No hole card is European rules so I don't usually see it in the u.s. Traditionally the U.S. had better blackjack rules but with the crappy rules of Las Vegas I don't know any more. In Europe how much do you get paid for a blackjack 3 to 2 or 6 to 5?

Your correct the no peek rule doesn't effect the edge. The no hole card rule I don't think they have it in the US. The no peek rule I know at least one casino in Reno has it.

I think the main difference is doubling 10 and 11, in no peek you only double upto the 9, and only split aces upto the 10.

And maybe not split 8,8 vs 10 or Ace - but u got the right idea
