Noob question about table max

Never got near the table max before but wondering what is the general casino policy on this. Say the table max is $500 and you have a $500 bet out. Can you still double down an additional $500 or have you technically already reached the maximum bet and you will not be allowed to double?

You should be always allowed to double down, or split, or whatever.
The table max is usually set with this in mind.

If you ever find an exception to this, find another casino immediately or never place more than 1/2 the table max as a bet.

If the table has a maximum payout, it's usually listed separately.
Example: "Blackjack - $5 minimum $500 maximum $2000 max payout".

You can look at a roulette table to see what a sign of that nature might look like.

The maxes are also usually per hand, so you can play multiple spots.

And unless you've maxed out the high roller area, most places would probably increase the limits for you (they might increase the minimums too).
