As I sit here in this Greensboro house I am in awe. My friend Kelley, introduced me to his friend Jimmy tonight. Jimmy has a little business in the sand hills of eastern NC. Well yeah he has slots and keno machines yet, it takes a little persuading to get him to deal a game of blackjack.

After burning a loaf of bread in his oven and eating all of his shrimp scampi, we both threw down 10k on his coffee table. Jimmy was much to eager to take our money and agreed to deal to us.

It was a double deck game with very liberal rules, if you did not see the hole card he would tell you what it was. I "almost felt bad for the guy but".. He was a gambler and I was not.

Walking back to the car with 26k in my pockets was kinda a low time, I felt bad for taking this guy for so much but, he was running a gambling house and was careless about who he let in the front door.

I have never felt so confident about my ability to count cards untill this week.

Would you feel better if he subscribed to Griffin? No, Griffin would have milked him for much more than $16k and he would still be vulnerable to APs. The lesson here: Don’t deal a game you can’t protect.

You won the money fair and square – using skill. Don’t feel bad about that. Just hope that he learned his lesson, otherwise he’s likely to get cleaned out by people less honorable than you.

gambling house's

i've never run across a operation such as discussed in this thread.
how common are they? what happens if they are busted? i suppose it depends upon the state and local laws.

You shouldn't have won that much. You could have milked this guy for awhile, but now you've probably burned that game out.

From what he was saying its a felony with a minimum of 12 years to do it. At the same time sagefrog, you have to deal with some not so pleasant people such as hookers, widows who blow their life savings etc. It was truly a sad sight, not really worth seeing again.

However, it gave me and my partner time to perfect our play and to develop our signals for live casino play. We nailed it.

Not if the guy was clueless. As a quasi gambling operator, he wants to win his money back from the lucky sucker. And if he wont tell the holecard anymore, just bet more conservative as aprapo. zg

BTW, if instead of cash you were to take gaming tokens or credits (for the Keno and/or slots) for some of your future winnings you would want 2-for-1 value on that money - winnings in play tokens might be an extra incentive for him to keep showing the holecard. zg

He may have been able to milk it for a while, but why not just take what you can in 1 shot? If MDLBJ says its not something he wants to see again he won't be back. I can see where you feel somewhat bad, but hey he's probably been taking others money for a while so what goes around comes around.

Does this Jimmy now hate you and hate Kelley for introducing you to him? Maybe Jimmy will soon switch to 6-deck with 75% pen?
If this Jimmy does switch to a 6 deck shoe with 75% pen then he will be in my zone. He makes a killing on other ventures so no he does not hate us.
