Not caring about individual hand results

This past week I played so many blackjack hands in Vegas. During my long overnight heads up sessions, I just did not care about the result and showed no emotion, even if it was a max bet blackjack. Just wanted as many hands per hour as possible. For insurance, I placed a bet without even looking at my cards if the TC was >5 and waved it off if the TC was <1.

In the day, I walk by a horrible game at my hotel (6-5 8D H17) and see everyone having fun and cheering about the results of each individual hand. The difference was like night and day.

Counters could care less about individual results, but the average ploppy would get excited about each hand. I sometimes feel unhappy getting a minimum bet blackjack.

Who gets barred the quickest?

A computer of a guy with zero emotion. Or, An animated player who talks
about lucky seats and flow of the cards and other such nonsense?

I know that I need to work on faking emotions. When I first started counting, I still expressed joy when I got a BJ and was disappointed when I busted. But I have played so many hands that each individual result just doesn't excite me. And in the middle of the night, I'm tired but I don't want to leave the table since it's the best time to play heads up.

But I can stand at a craps table and be excited if the table is winning, even if I'm not betting anything.

this is a symptom that you've been playing too much. You've lost the thrill that should come with winning. If you're playing for a living, this is understandable, but for any other reason, you should reexamine your priorities. Perhaps taking a long rest from BJ would do you some good as there is more to life than making a buck.

Congrats on Your Boredom

It appears the mechanics of the game are easy for you, this is what you want!

Your style of play led to boredom, long play all/near play all sessions all night for a week? Many would probably be bored.

Wong more, this allows you to look around at people, things and talk on the phone which you should be able to do? While watching the table.

Learn a higher level count to renew interest in the game and to have your mind more engaged the next time you play
or
Learn a few more indicies
or
Learn a new technique for playing bj
or
Lean an entirely new game to beat

If your bets are conservative raise your betting ramp to get the blood pumping a bit. If you are hestitant to raise your overall bets due to heat considerations then place your top bet sooner. Don't overdue this and take on to much risk and/or turn into an action junkie.

:joker::whip:
whatever you do, don't get so bored that you become an internet warrior:rolleyes::laugh:

May your play not get TO interesting

This is a rare - and rather important - attribute that every professional SHOULD develop. Emotions can destroy a gambler if he cannot keep them in check - just ask ANY poker player...

Another rare & important attribute - introspection. You have certainly won MY respect in this regard. :)

That fact creates by far my best way to win money from otherwise good players online. I just type nonsense at them after a hand (if I know they are reading the chat box) that is pretty much designed to anger them. They flip out and tilt away their buy in....

Though being emotional after a large loss in a couple of people just makes them play their absolute best. I know I'm like that now....I get all angry and worked up, then I screw down and play better.

It's the damndest thing. I don't know what it is, but poker tilts me to no end. There's no question that I've made poor plays in the past due to tilt, but I never feel that when playing other games. Even starting out as a counter, I don't remember feeling overly emotional about wins or losses, as I was prepared to lose my (small) bankroll and build it up again if I hit negative variance. During a long stretch of running bad, I feel more frustration than anything—frustration that I'll have to just put in that many more hours to build my way back. Even that frustration is pretty mild. However, I'm very "excited" and "disappointed" about my results when actually in the casino.

Food for thought: many counters know that you should show emotions when playing, even if it's 100% artificial. Appearing joyful when winning is easy, anyone can do it; but what do you do during a losing streak? If you want to appear like the average gambler, it would seem like the best thing to do would be to act angry and unpleasant, and possibly abusive to other players and/or the dealer. Although this kind of behavior might appear to be typical gambler behavior, I would caution against it.

When I'm experiencing bad results, I generally just act resigned to my fate, as if I'm disappointed but not terribly affected by the results. By remaining cordial and friendly to the dealer, they're sympathetic rather than resentful, which may buy you a little less scrutiny than the former will, should the situation call for it. It also has the benefit of implying that you have plenty of money, and your chips are only a small part of it. I think this is a good approach because it fulfills the need to emote when losing, but it avoids the negative attention that might come along with being a sore loser.

If you can't get emotional about your results, try doing it for your tablemates. Be like the friends of te guy who just got his golden ticket on American Idol. It won't add any value to your game, but it will make it more fun.

Playing against overly emotional people at poker has led to many AP opportunities for me. I also use it to my advantage in blackjack as well. Case in point. Had a player detesting the fact that the dealer always had 20 or blackjack when they had a 10 card showing. I made a side bet wager with them that the dealer would not have 20 or blackjack the next time the dealer had a 10 showing. Oh and did I mention the count was negative

You are right, I feel like I turned into a computer playing long overnight sessions in Vegas. Blackjack in the night, sleep in the morning and early afternoon, and poker in the evening. The most fun I had was when I used up casino promotions around downtown playing other games. It's exciting to play craps, and I can justify it when I'm playing with a match play.

When I was winning in blackjack I was not acting happy, I was tipping $2 an hour if playing alone. And when I was losing, I was just pulling out hundreds like I had a limitless supply.
