is there anything online that can help train someone for playing two hands? I like the strategy trainer on here but when it comes to multiple hands its lacking it seems.

i would like to try to find something or at least find any help in playing 2 hands at a time

There are a few programs that will let you play two hands at a time. Casino Verite is the best overall practice software for blackjack. But the basic strategy for playing two hands isn't any different than for playing just one. The strategy is the same so the decisions will be the same.

While the strategy is the same regardless of whether you're using or not using any form of AP you're surely doubling the house edge by playing 2 pockets when you don't need to - a bad move?

I thought that was the idea behind UK old rules making you play 2 pockets if you were alone with the dealer? It doubles the casino advantage against Joe Public unless he's making unbalanced wagers and guessing right (voodoo) in terms of which pocket will get the strongest deal.

If the edge on any given hand is .5% and you're flat betting 2 units equally spread between two hands then the combined house edge i.e probability of you winning both hands is now 1%?

There's no real progression unless you win both hands because win/win=2unit win, win/push=1unit win (that is surrendering half your potential win), push/push=push and push/loss=1unit loss (that is like late surrender, accepting a partial loss for an unforseen event) , loss/loss = 2unit loss.

The ratios are exactly the same as playing 2 units on 1 hand but you lose the partila win/loss option and gain a true 1:1 payout for all winning hands?

Only if you have to raise your bet to play multiple hands. For example, if you normally play one hand of $20 but decide to switch to two hands of $10 each then you will still expect to lose the same amount of money (although your short-term variance will be a bit smaller). But if you play two hands of $20 then you will expect to lose more money because you are betting more.

Ah I get it - so if your unit corresponds to the table min then get the hell outta there ;) (or play one hand)

i ended up going to the casino nearest me (coushatta casino in lake Charles, la) the other night and was able to do ok playing, the single deck tables did not do good for me, but on 6 deck double any two cards, split up to 4 times (incl Aces) and DAS, i ended up not doing too bad, there was a few times getting close to 8 hands on the table due to splits and whatever. I definitely was able to get on some nice runs playing 2 hands that were able to drop back to 1 when the table was losing, it was just a nice way to win 2x as fast it seemed.
