Oceans 13

I watched the movie again today, and I was trying to pay attention to how they went about rigging all the games.

Slots they just programmed in a certain coin sequence that would trigger the jackpot, craps they used some kind of material that the lighter switch would control.

It looks like Blackjack they somehow programmed the CSM to deal Blackjacks to all 7 spots at the table while giving the dealer a bust hand. Is this possible? Does the machine have the ability to read the cards it is dealing out?

And as for Roulette, I have no idea how they did that. Can somehow clear this up for me?

Make up any fantasy you wish.:) The movie was so absurd it made Alice in Wonderland look like a Nature Channel documentary on rabbit warrens.

Hold it now.. I never saw the movie.....but i do remember something about coin sequencing for jackpots that some team had done... They got caught. So that is real. I know that some bar vp was programmed never to hit royals...
I remember the story of the guy that was a gaming employee that was able to rig the keno machines in AC???? i believe... He was caught...
There all kinds of criminal type activities.... MM i just talke to some guys that were beating the old coin machines by slowing down the coin dispensing .. and in effect creating a overpay machine... That was at the end of the coin era...
So there is stuff out there...That stuff is what i call the Dark stuff... Never enter the dark stuff.... :whip::whip::whip: Now a light gray area isnt all bad once in a while :eek:

Machinist Very light!!!!!

There are lots of ways to cheat. Just don't look for them in that idiotic plot.

When you do watch it, Mach, keep in mind that it is not a documentary. It's entertainment, and not bad in that regard. Entertainment. Amazing how a fictional movie can inspire such frustration in some folks.

good luck :joker:

Problem is, it was fantasy, not straight fiction. I like fantasy. But only when it is meant to be fantasy. I think they were just lazy in creating the script.

our newest shuffle machine at the casino i work in can sort the cards for us, it remembers exactly what hands were dispensed to what spot in case of any errors in dealing/playing, so yes that machine dealing blackjacks to everyone is possible.

Criminal activities? Sure, right on brother. Casinos are right in there... Sometimes fighting fire with fire might be appropriate. Does it matter what it's termed? :)

Good point, QFIT. I'll give ya that for sure.

All things aside, I liked Ocean's Eleven better.

Yeah I just watched 13 and then went back and re-watched 11. I think both are really entertaining. 12 was poor.

Original was so much better than any of these retreads. Sinatra and his crew blow cooneys bunch out of the water.

I am not a Sinatra fan. But the 1960 version was much better, IMO. It actually had a realistic plot and realistic characters. The new shows had cartoon characters and nutty plans that went something like:

1. Get a bunch of clever guys together
2. Get a bankroll
3. Something magical happens.
4. Celebrate.

But isn't that the way this whole AP thing is supposed to work?!? :joker:

Interesting take. There is something awfully nostalgic about seeing the Rat Pack in action though. Especially because I never got to experience "that Vegas" first hand, I enjoy the original O11 and other movies like Casino (different era of film making, sure) that capture those eras gone forever.
