Ok is this common or just unlucky

Im writing this for feedback and cuz I saw another post kinda like this and figured id write one of my own

OK just a little about me I play poker and have been for like 4 years . I learned all the games I needed to inside and out and was getting bored cuz I didnt have anymore games I need to learn . Then one day on TV I was just switching channels and came across Elimination Blackjack ( UBT ) and was like that looks very interesting so I starting playing on Ultimate Bet and enjoyed it for like 3 months during this time I was trying to find ways to improve my edge and found a good 6+deck shoe chart that worked for Elimination Blackjack and Blackjack Tournaments and got a general grasp of card counting . Then I got bored one day and was curious about just learning the ins and outs of regular blackjack . Read many articles on Card Counting and printed off all the charts and figured id give myself 2 months to learn to count and well to be honest it wasnt hard at all for me . The charts were a different story...

Ok so to the point of the post . OK so about 8 weeks ago I was at a casino for a poker tourney and had about an hour before the tourney so I was ready to sit down at my first blackjack table . At first I was very nervous and then the cards where dealt and I kept grabbing with both hands and my ettiquite was just horrible but after about 15 in I was more compfertable I had no problem keeping the count even while having a conversation with the dealer . The only problem I had was remember the proper move on some of the hands like forgetting to DD with my A5 to there up 4/5/6 . stuipid mistakes . After the hour I was up $$ and I was happy, but i was only up 1$ lol . But still up for my first experience. And while going up stairs I found a 15$ ticket and the casino just told me to keep it .

Ok so now I knew where I need practice and figured I was just learn SD / DD play and practice the more common games charts for reno. I dealt my self hundreds of hands used online tools and after a while i was down to no mistakes on proper moves.

So I went to another casino BONANZA and sat for about a hour and was up like 100$ on a 3$ table . I was able to keep the count while distracting the dealer with conversation .

I had another session just like this one at BOOMTOWN .

But now it seems things are not going right . I am able to keep track up the number of BJ's in a session with the half dollars and keep count in my head how many times I win when splitting or when I DD . Im 2-30 when Ive DD and 3-21 when spltting and HAVE had only 4 BJ's dealt to me . And this is over 6 hours of play at a couple of different casinos. I know this is crazy but I feel im doing something wrong . I count with no problems at all even if i just bearly see a card, havent made any mistakes . Many times the count has been 7+ then i bet out hard and other people at the table get the BJ's. Ive only lost like 200$ but still its getting very annoying . I just want to know if this is common or just very unlucky . I mean people sit down for half hour and got 4 BJ's. Maybe I just need to hear someone else tell me they have had a similar experience and it turned around for them .
Im used the the roller coaster in poker but just not sure how it goes in blackjack .

Any and all feedback would be nice .

Thanks.

It is very common. You can expect the swings to be around 20-30 units per hour about 68% of the time. About 95% of the time you will win/lose 40-60 units or less in a single hour. Losing 40 units is 6 hours is completely normal.

While getting 4 BJs in 6 hours is unusual, its not unheard of.Stick with it and you'll eventually it a streak of 6 in about ten hands. That too is unusal, but happens.Double downs also seem to come in streaks. There have been trips I can't make any,and trips I hit them like wildfire. You just have to play on,secure in the confidence that over time, you are playing with an advantage and it will show itself.

Yea I know its a swing game but this just seemed absured. Winning the stuff thats suppost to make you money under 5% just seems way way low . And I was just curious if anyone else has had sessions this bad a lot or just a fluke real bad session ??

Thanks.

While I don't track my double downs,I can tell you I've run streaks that lasted weeks where I lost the vast majority of them.

Yes Sonny call it Variance and I call it Streak.
Yes the negative ... is hard to take. I seem to remember it more than the positive one. Or is it just me. Apparently you too. Many doubts too just like you.

I've read from other poker players that the variance of blackjack is an unpleasant surprise.

As for if losing $200 is a "bad beat" or not... I just checked, and back in one day in Reno I had three losing sessions of over $300, when my max bet was about $35/$40. (Min bet usually $5).
