I have learned a great deal from many of the members here in my 3 years of posting on this board and for that I am grateful to everyone and especially to Ken for providing this forum from which to share and learn from each other. At this time I have decided to cease my participation on the site, as the board has recently become less fun and anti-productive to my goals. I will still read the posts regularly in my quest for ongoing knowledge, but will not reply nor share my experiences.
On a site such as this there will be discussions and disagreement (part of the learning process) and occasionally one's feelings are bound to be hurt. I have participated in my share of these discussions and disagreements and on at least one occasion, regret comments that I made. I speak of a fairly recent exchange with anottoobrightirishman. I found it amusing that every few weeks he had a different angle and made lite of his attempt to gain an advantage using ESP. From his response, it was obvious that he was hurt by my remarks and for that I apoligize to him.
Two other incidents that I found troubling involved the continued spreading a false information. One such incident involved Jstat and the ten count. I have no problem with his endorsement of the ten count, that's a personal choice. My dispute involved his claims that other counts, most noteably hi-lo did not work, which he continued to claim even after it had been mathematically proven time and time again by many different members.
The second such incident involves CP's repeated claims that you can not win again marginal, what he refers to as "trash games". He has access to great conditions that most of us don't and does well with those conditions, I am sure, but his claim that common marginal games such as the 6 deck/75% penetration found in Vegas or even AC cannot be beaten is just flat out false. Like Jstat's claim, it has been proven by millions and millions of hands of simulation, as well as a number of players, myself included that continually win at these games. I have supported myself for six years now solely off of my blackjack winnings, most of which have taken place against these marginal "trash" games. While it is true that I have not gotten rich doing so and have yet to break the $100K a year barrier, I have had consistant mid to upper five figure results yearly. He recently asked why I think his comments reflect upon me? The answer of course is that his continued claim even after such proof, calls my results into question and more or less suggusts that I and others that claim to beat these games are lying, and yes I do take that personally.
At any rate, it isn't any single incident that has prompted my decision. Participating on the board has just become less fun and counter productive for me recently. I harbor no ill feeling towards anyone and on the contrary am truely grateful for the many lessons learned and experiences shared and I wish everyone continued success.
