why does european sytle blackjack with no peek for hole cards have a higher edge then peek games according to the strategy engine. even if you still have late surrender for ace and 10 and only lose your original bet to dealers blackjack if you split or double down ( so if you have a $10 bet and double down the dealer has BJ you only lose $10 not $20 so this is clear).

after reading other posts i am now confused on this subject.

am i missing something here or what is the reason behind this???

... editing here... i dont know why i put this in the counting section.. since it shouldnt be here...

Whether the dealer takes a hole card or not is irrelevant to the game. It's what they do with your bets that matter. So if you double or split then the dealer pulls a blackjack and you lose both your original bet and your double or split, this is called European No Hole Card (ENHC). If the dealer only takes your original bet only (OBO) after getting blackjack the double or split is not counted you keep that money. Now ENHC changes basic strategy while OBO does not. So you do not want to be doubling an 11 v 10 for instance because the odds go up that a dealer will pull off a blackjack and you don't want to lose that extra money. In a regular game the dealer would have already checked for blackjack so you know he doesn't have it for sure. The only difference with an OBO game is that it eats extra cards in positive counts which hurts the backcounter. Here are the basic changes with the ENHC game.
11 v 10 Hit
11 v A Hit
A,A v A Hit
8,8 v 10 Hit
8,8 v A Hit

OBO vs ENHC

So if you use the bs engine on this site to determine house edge, and select ENHC, but you actually play OBO, you are not getting a accurate edge ?

Correct. Select American peek if you're playing OBO. It's the equivalent strategy. ENHC means you lose all bets if the dealer has a blackjack, including doubles and splits.

yea thats waht was confusing me was the strategy bs maker saying even with the late surrender in all, where i play at least, the edge was .69% where when its american style it was .58%, which it plays like.

its nice to have this cleared up.
