If anyone is planning a trip to Reno I just got back from the Peppermill and found a 6 deck shoe that deals face up, dealer hits soft 17, double on first 2 and allows doulble after split. It was $10 around 7 pm then $25 around 9 pm.

I remember seeing one or two lonely shoe games in the barn of Peppermill in January. I think they were fairly new. I guess they just wanted to have the option available for players that prefer shoes.

Course, it was also late last year that they switched the single deck games from double on any to D10. Even then, the single deck games are still preferable.

Most places in town I have been to are mostly 1 deck. Once I figure out where the good games in town are I'll pass them along

Alamo truckstop
Boomtown
Silver Club
Rail City
Western Village
Baldini's
Siena

All are notable for allowing double down on any two cards, not just 10-11. Alamo also allows surrender and six-card charlie, which is sweet.

The rules are bad, but whether or not the game is good depends on the penetration.
Back counted this game when I was up there Jun 10. While made some money before wonging out during the next shoe the pen was no better than 70%. Better games to be found as ER stated above.

Headed to Reno

Thanks Reno dude for the info. I'll be in Reno 20-23 staying at CC. Could use all the information that I can get before arriving. First trip to Reno. Hope to at least win enough to pay for the trip. Any advice/info appreciated!

Yeah I don't think I could bear to go to Reno and play shoe. It's like going to a steakhouse and eating a baloney sandwich. Experience SD while you can.

You should also play the double on 10,11 only single deck games in Reno and surrounding area. My first time playing in Reno I made the mistake of only playing double on any two cards and overplayed a couple of casinos. The Alamo has best rules in Reno area, but it has hight heat. Using LS at the Alamo will draw more attention than you want and they might have a pit critter sub in for their regular dealer to see if your counting. Most players I have seen at the Alamo do not even know what LS is.
