phantom007's Monthly PITA Poll Question?

PITA = Pain In The Ass!

Last month's poll was regarding "What Casino's should be allowed to do to Counters"...I posted a question to those who voted for allowing Barring, Beatings, and the like, as to why? Respondents basically indicated that they felt that if casino's were allowed to PROTECT their GOOD games, then there would be a higher likelihood that they would continue to offer GOOD games.

I certainly cannot argue with this logic; same evidently validated by "Non-Barring States"...MO and NJ...6D, 8D, and DD(9-11 only on odd days in even weeks).

Now, for this month's PITA Poll Question:

The March Poll asks us to vote on the worst variantion/mutation of our beloved BJ game. 6:5 BJ seems to be pulling ahead of all others. Therefore, to those of you voting for 6:5, and NOT CSM's...

???WHY???

Do not get me wrong...I am not in favour of 69, I mean 6:5. However, in my simple mind, 6:5 is still POTENTIALLY beatable (10:1 spread per ZG). CSM's can also be beaten, but only if you grab a bunch of purple chips out of the Dealer's tray, and are able to outrun Security and the Police. Thus, I would think the obvious vote should be for CSM's.

P.S.: Attempted a little joke above, i.e., "69 vs. 6:5"...now, looking at the #'s, I realize that in 69, both parties benefit...in 6:5, one party is looking the other way, and therefore, "is getting it from behind". A definate PITA! Well, maybe not in San Fran-crisco! Must be getting old...I can still remember when Rice-A-Roni was "The San Fransisco Treat"!

I think most people are in a panic over 6/5 -- not knowing how far the insidious virus will spread. We have already seen the full extent of the damage of CSM's -- that is a known quantity -- but 6/5 is still an unknown evil. Could it spread to shoes? Could the good sd games all go the way of 6/5? Could casinos stop offering shoes and dd, and go to exclusively 6/5 sd and csm's?

It's the devil we don't yet know.

Respectfully Disagree!

Dear Mr. +/-:

CSM's are MUCH worse than 6:5...with 69, I mean 6:5, at least there is a chance to win, if allowed to spread appropriately...with CSM's, I cannot see any reasonable way to beat same.

Yeah, we both probably saw a recent post on another site indcating that IF the first 20+ cards out of the shoe on the CSM are "little" (or big), then is mathematically highly unlikely that MOST of same will reappear during the next deal...THUS, one could conceivably devise a system based on this.

TOO much for me.

And Ploppies? Why are you worried about Ploppies? I do thank you because I often regress to Progression. But anyhow, as Edwin Silberstang said, "Someone has to pay for all the lights". I would rather it be someone besides me!

So if 6:5 BJ is harder on the Ploppies than CSM's, then, SO BE IT! I was there once, and occasionally get stupid, and return to my roots...no problem, just hope that someone besides me "funds my demise".

Respectfully,

phantom007.

Experienced NO 6:5, or for that matter, 69, during my recent SOLO LV trip. I had actually planned to play same, just to prove that it could be beaten. However, time and Bankroll did not allow such indulginces!

IMHO, a good CC will do better at 69, I mean 6:5, than in a standard 6D game, if said CC is allowed 10:1 spread in 6:5, but only 6:1 in 6D.

Would write more, but I need to post the "French Jokes" on the "non-BJ site" ASAP...they are good!

IMHO, YOUR Virginity is Protected!

Hope that you are turned ON, and not OFF, from the GAME. Certainly lots of threats out there, but same have been there since E. Thorp's book!

CSM's are OUT THERE, but likely will not last. MindPlay is moving in, but since AP's often bet just like the Ploppies, may just as soon be moving out!

I spent about 10 days is LV, just a week or so ago. DECENT SD STILL exists Downtown, with a $5-10. min., and DECENT DD is present on the Strip, at a $25. min. I define "DECENT" as 50+% Pen. and NO HEAT!

Read this NOW, and BELIEVE It Later...Tips DEFINATELY Help Penetration, and DEFER HEAT!

BJ is a wonderful game!

Some would suggest that you learn a Simple system, then move up as needed. I suggest that YOU learn a Complex system, such as AOII/-6/+6, then MOVE DOWN when You Have Too.

But, this is just my Opinion!

PLEASE progress in your studies...BJ will still be around for a while.

Re: IMHO, YOUR Virginity is Protected!

I am currently studying AOII system as in the book Blackjack for Blood by Bryce Carlson....Ive been playing basic stragegy for years so I have somewhat of an advantage over someone who reads the book and doesnt know much....The act of just counting the cards quickly is simple since I used to memorize numbers to objects 8 hours a day at my job...just gotta get the betting and new strategys down

not sure...

...what post you are referring to here:

"Yeah, we both probably saw a recent post on another site indcating that IF the first 20+ cards out of the shoe on the CSM are "little" (or big), then is mathematically highly unlikely that MOST of same will reappear during the next deal...THUS, one could conceivably devise a system based on this."

...but I'm aware of more than one technique to exploit these machines. Of course the edge is small, the bank required is high, and its very difficult to execute. Though from what I've heard its pretty much impossible to pull off a 1-10 spread at the 6:5 single deckers, as they will still bar you in an instance despite the large HE. Zg was doing this a year ago, and by his own admission this scheme just won't fly anymore. At least you can try against the machines, you won't even have a shot at the 6:5ers, you'll be outta there before you even get to 8 units in your spread, let alone 10.

Maybe I'm wrong, if somebody has pulled off 1-10 in the 6:5 game _recently_, please let me know.

It all boils down to...

...the fact that casinos think that they can get away with the 6:5 games. They tried using CSMs, but they failed because so few people would play them. Now they are trying the 6:5 rule, and people are still playing! The casinos are "testing the waters" to see how much they can get away with. If the public refuses the new rules or machines, they find something else until people swallow it.

My older brother used to do the same thing to me when we were little. I had a terrible temper, and he knew EXACTLY how far he could push me before I exploded. We exploded over the CSMs, then we exploded over the "Super Fun 21". The 6:5 rule is making people angry, but the casinos will keep using it until we explode. They are learning EXACTLY how far they can push us.

That is why I voted for the 6:5 rule on the poll. It is potentially devistating to the game because the casinos can get away with it, and it could change the game forever. Maybe we WILL start seeing 6:5 shoe games!

WHEN WILL WE EXPLODE!!!!!

Re: It all boils down to...

Well said Sonny.

But the problem, as I see it is this. AP's represent a very small percentage of the market. The ploppies don't know the diffrence. So why would they explode. Maybe i'm not giving them enough credit, but I would be willing to bet most of them don't even know that they are playing 6/5.

So...... you vote with your feet. Walk away from the table and don't play that game. But when the advantage players stop playing a game It makes more money. When it makes more money the casinos assume it's being accepted so they leave it out there.

Am I way off base here? Maybe I'm over simplifying. I don't think the ploppies really care because they don't know why they should care. And they are the ones the casino's want playing anyway.
